LIHOP/MIHOP
Could there be a wealthy individual who understands the relationship between PNAC, Strauss, the neocons, 9/11, the war on terror and the Iraq War who could run as an independent against a rupug in 06 to bring this stuff into the political discourse?

I would love to see it.

1. Ted Turner?
George Soros could fund someone, perhaps, since he cannot run himself.

2. don't you think this is something that could and should happen
i don't think a dem could run on the platform...

but pick a race we're not likely to win anyway and have someone run on LIHOP/MIHOP as an independent.

Perot brought a lot to the discussion even though many saw him as nutty, it could be done again.

4. Perot was in Oliver North's autobiography published before the 92 election
Perot was an insider.

He shows up in the first chapter of North's book calling from the Reagan White House telling North to take the fall for the President for Iran Contra.

He shows up midway through the book when North is thinking of leaving the military and going to work for Perot's company. Perot, North and the Admiral have lunch, and North is encouraged to stay with the military.

I always found it amusing that people thought Perot was an "outsider". He clearly wasn't.

3. a) why rich and b) have you not seen how unpopular Nader is around here?
Then again, maybe most folks here will be ok with it if it's for the Hill. (some won't, though, and insist that third party and indy candidates should stick to local races.)

5. 1) rich so he/she can fund his own campaign and get national attention
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 06:33 AM by tk2kewl
and 2)i didn't say a run for pres. i would like to see a run for a senate seat that would be a long shot for a democrat. the idea is not to be popular with lefties, it is to get LIHOP/MIHOP/PNAC/neocon into the daily conversations of average people

6. It's a bummer living in a system where you can/have to buy your way into
office so I guess I see the point of being rich and it would be nice to have someone bring those topics up. So can you think of anyone who would be willing to part with a heck of a lot of money on this? Esp since the odds are tehy won't win and are just doing a media blitz?

It would have to be someone that people won't automatically reject in kneejerk fashion like Michael Moore, Ralph Nader, and so forth..

8. Wish we could get Oprah's attention on this, but I bet she wouldn't
do it for fear of alienating the Kool-Aid-drinking half of her audience.
