What if the Dems swept the 2006 elections and the pubs refused to leave?
With the republicans in congress lately so drunk on power and bush well on his way with his own little mercenary army, do you think this could ever become a possibility?
No, I'm not a wild eyed crazy...just tossing the idea up in the air for comments.

2. I don't think that will happen.
Republicans have lost plenty of elections since the 1850s. The next round will not be much different. Some will win, and some will lose and the losers will go home.

12. Believe me, I think about worth while things all day long
I run a large business and I have a busy and rewarding personal life. I'm not a wild eyed crazy. But I come here to chat with folks who have the same political interests, and sometimes we mull over theoretical stuff. Just for the heck of it. :)

I'll just say, I wouldn't put anything past them.
And unless we get this corrupted election process
fixed, we'll never be rid of them. Ever.

11. Reminds me of a SNL skit from the 80s
They did a funny bit about Nancy Reagan refusing to leave the WH and Barbara Bush trying to usher her out.

This is before Barbara Bush showed her true colors, so she was portrayed as the sympathetic character.

It shows how low we've sunk. I was 16 when Carter lost to Reagan. I thought the end of the world was near.

Oh foolish me, little did I realize the nightmare which lay ahead.

13. Frist Is Running For Prez So...
When the Stormin' Mormon (that's a compliment) takes over as Majority Leader, he simply ignores motions by any defeated righties who refuse to leave. If they can't get anything done, lose their office space and staff and housing allowance, they won't stick around for very long. If there's one thing they won't do, it's work for free!

16. why this won't happen . . .
the Dems sweeping the elections, I mean . . . even when people have a very low opinion of Congress, they usually have a positive opinion of their own representative . . . you know, the one who brings the federal money into their district . . . which is why they keep voting them back in . . . this generally leads to very few changes in the makeup of the Congress . . .

Well... Since TomDeLAME does anything for a $$$-buck-$$$ we could have him put on his old Orkin Man Exterminator Gear and see if he'd fumigate the righties off the premesis?

Could we'd have to get him drunk first.. but that's pretty easy to do I hear .. :silly:

19. All they have to do is make it appear there has been another
terrorist attack on American soil. Bush could then declare Marshal Law (which Tommy Franks has said he could and would do under those circumstances), and suspend elections.

Granted, it is extreme, but it could happen. And, I put nothing past this administration.

There was a pervasive fear among liberals that Nixon would try to seize control of the military to stay in power.

Apparently there were some concerns within the White House because according to Woodward, Kissinger alerted the JCOS to get additional approval from the State Dept. and others before executing any of Nixon's orders.

25. Kissinger was the voice of reason. Scary.
Just out of curiosity, who would be the voice of reason in this administration? Powell? Oh, yeah, he's gone. O'Neill? Ummm, no. Also gone. Condi? Yup, that's it. Condi would push the alert button.
Oh brother, we're in trouble.

24. You have two choices: either fight them or comply with them..
Keep in mind that people usually only have the power people give them. I would recommend a passive fight.

Personally, I would consider them illigetimate and wouldn't recognize them. In essence, they would be persona non grata to me. Whatever the say would be completely ignored by me unless it physically threatened me.

I would however, recognize the true elected officials and urge them to set up a new official capital.

crooked? I could see it. Don't win on your own merits, just take away your opponent's.

30. much easier than you think.....all Bush would have to do is
declare a "national emergency" of some sort, have White House lawyers approach the Supreme Court with their argument and the judges could rule the Constitution "temporarily" suspended.
This would dissolve Congress and martial law would be in place until the "emergency" has passed. Bush would, at that time, be a dictator.
Oh, and guess who determines when the "emergency" has passed? Yep, the monkey.
