"Bloggers call on government to leave them alone

Fighting the system from within

By Nick Farrell: Wednesday 29 June 2005, 08:47

ANTI ESTABLISHMENT bloggers in the United States are trying to use the system to get the government to leave them alone.
The government has become more interested in blogs since the last election, where it was considered they had a role in deciding how things all went. Now they want to make sure that blogs are subject to election laws, the same as other media.

But the bloggers are fighting back, according to the Washington Post. Some are working with lawyers, spinners and a political action committee to do it.

One of the leaders is Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, founder of the Web log DailyKos.com, who said it was a sign that blogs "had arrived". Moulitsas yesterday went to testify Tuesday at a hearing on a Federal Election Commission proposal that would extended some campaign finance rules to the Internet, including bloggers. µ"
