I just started it with an old gas bag on my neighborhood discussion board.

4. If you need more...
... have a look at some of the commentary related to the very latest energy bill now under debate. To my mind, it's definitely corporate welfare to arrange for loans, subsidies and tax credits for mature, profitable industries just to get them to do something the government wants them to do--which they would do, anyway. The way the system is set up now, industry refuses to do even that which is profitable unless government supports it or indemnifies from risk in doing so.

I think corporate welfare is an issue needs more attention. I absolutely seeth when someone mentions 'crack ho's on welfare' & the how they abuse the system. First, not everyone on welfare is abusing the system. Second, even if they all were, it would not come close to the abuse the corporations get away with. But of course, that never gets reported.

5. I don't have links since I do no research on the web
My favorite corporate welfare example is Taxol. (you can google it) discovered by the National Cancer Institute, and developed totally with NIH, thats taxpayer, funds it was then GIVEN to Bristol-Myers-Squibb. It cost BMS 52.50$ to produce a shot of Taxol and they charge 1,023$ wholesale.

A decent list would include
S&L bailout
Agribusiness subsidies
Nuclear subsidies
Mining subsidies
Export subsidies (these are many and varied including a subsidy for advertising in foreign markets and direct funding for trade shows)
Commercial ship subsidies

6. This was all over the news a couple days ago:
High court OKs personal property seizures

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that local governments may seize people's homes and businesses -- even against their will -- for private economic development.
