Or is he now AWOL? Also, I read that he had an appt today with his cardiologist and would be returning to work this afternoon. Anyone 2nd on that?

going to be indicted? He disappeared about the time Rove emerged from his cave and started going bonkers in public.

Couldn't be related to an Irish prosecutor working in Virginia, could it?

3. I thought the rumors were bunk....
I don't think a SC Justice would resign while the President is out of the country. It just seems they'd wait 'til he was back.

4. Bush is back, apparently
but I think the rumors are bunk as well. Look who are the originators, that's all you need to know.

6. The day's still young.
Whether or not he retires today or tomorrow, we'll have to wait and see if the rumors bear fruit or not.

7. I didn't buy the rumor

Politically, it raises too many problems at once on their side. I'm pretty sure he's putting it off until winter or a year from now- his health isn't, supposedly, that bad that he can't continue on for that long.

Previous asking of the same question-

He'll hold out as long as he can...until his health gives out or Sandra Day O'Connor's replacement is confirmed.

14. They'll wait until
they can use to diffuse the scandals like Plame and DSM, keep the media busy with Rehnquist instead of those.
