NBC Nightly News: Race is Tightening!!!
Things are very fluid says Russert. Trends are that Dean is closing the gap vs. Kerry.

GO DEAN!!!!!

10. ARG even has him on the comeback.
Boston Herald has him down only 12 now after having him down 20. Fox has it narrowing by three in a single day. Gallup shows Dean picking up momentum. Clearly there is something happening.

18. these are tracking polls - average over 3 days, not good for quick turns
Because of the nature of the 3 day average, Kerry's comedown from his Iowa bounce won't be seen as well, Dean's recovery won't look as dramatic, and Clark's free fall will seem less severe. It also makes it hard to tell if Edwards is really climbing or standing still.

5. Can you tell me who conducted this poll?
I've been trying to keep abreast of all of the tracking polls. :)

14. All others show Dean gaining somewhat.
Fox has him up three, Boston Herald has him gaining, Gallup has him at 25%. Clearly, there is something going on.

17. The media is looking for a closer race even though none exists.
Blowouts don't make for great political theatre. They're trying to say "the race is tightening" just like in Iowa it was supposed to be a "statistical dead heat" even though most polls showed Kerry ahead.

What we learned from Iowa was that no one poll was correct; it was what all of the polls taken together were hinting at. Most of the polls this time around show Kerry with double digit leads, and I suspect he'll win going away (by about 20pts). The trends in the polls and the reasons behind those numbers all point to a big Kerry win.
