MTV's Gideon Yago Reports - Saying 'No' To The Army (VIDEO)

CBS Video Link

The mainstream media often overlooks the recruiting crisis of the US military but this morning, CBS ran a great segment hosted by MTV News correspondent Gideon Yago.

The segment was excellent and I'll comment on that below but first I want to say a few words about Gideon Yago. I'm not sure what it is about him but for some reason I enjoy his reports. He's young, vibrant and intelligent, something you don't see in most talking-heads.

Now to the segment, that touched on the recruiting crisis. The report looked at some of the reasons that Americans are turning a deaf ear to recruiters. One young man said that he had a moral issue with this war, something most of us can relate to.

The report then moves on to a black girl named Latoya who wanted to join the Army but faced opposition from her aunt and her Social Studies teacher.
