Kerry raising millions for Democrats

By Lolita C. Baldor, Associated Press Writer | July 19, 2005

WASHINGTON --Sen. John Kerry, who last November lost his bid for the White House, has spent the last seven months raising millions of dollars for Democrats across the country.

According to staff and campaign reports, Kerry has either contributed or raised more than $4.3 million for candidates and congressional committees since the beginning of the year. That total includes nearly $3 million in direct contributions, and $1.4 million in fund-raising that he directed through his Web site and his campaign for candidates and for troops overseas through the USO.

Shifting his organization from a nationwide presidential campaign to a fund-raising effort, Kerry raised $2.1 million in the last quarter through his Senate re-election committee and his political action committee, Keeping America's Promise, according to spokeswoman Katherine Lister.

Kerry, who is considered a possible candidate for the White House in 2008, has been using his e-mail list of more than 3 million supporters to direct fund-raising to Senate incumbents and Democratic challengers, as well as other state and local candidates.

How dare he raise funds for the DUMBocrats??

:sarcasm:

Oh, and here is for the DUers who hate him:

"Too little, too late."
"Loser! He lost so he shouldn't be doing anything!"
"He's only doing it because he wants to run in 2008!"

etc etc etc

and that was the first, the FIRST thing somebody said.

My reply over there was...

"Eh, too easy to say, too hard to prove.

Every time I mention something Kerry is doing, the answer comes back "he's running in 2008" regardless of what that something is about.

I honestly believe that if he set himself on fire, someone would say that he was pandering to the Fireman's union in preparation for 2008.

To hell with 2008. 2006!!"

6. Yes, he couldn't actually CARE about the issues he supports, right?
I mean, he couldn't actually want to root out traitors and provide healthcare for kids. It has to all be this elaborate ruse, right?

I'm sick of the Kerry bashers. I don't bash Dean, Clark or Hillary unless they do something 1) repub-lite or 2) totally stupid.

When they support our cause, I support them.

7. I would support them
but I think one of them is trying steal the rightful place of our glorious former candidate as the next President of the United Ststes. I'm just not sure which one, so I'll just bash them all, if it's okay. Can't be too careful with the future of our John, all glory in His name.

:D

(I'm makin' myself sick here. Y'all know I'm kidding)

11. You know - because he had money left over after the campaign
Damn him! He used that money to go windsurfing and pay for his mansion and NOT win the election!

12. OOOOOh! I get it now
It was just such a non-sequitor since, you know, the article says that he's been RAISING money for Democrat candidates. It doesn't even mention his leftovers since, after all, PAC money has to be new money. Perhaps our friend didn't know that.

Gee, you'd think folks would notice if one of the candidates Kerry was raising money for was named Mort Gage.

13. I admit it. I am Mort Gage!
Heck, I don't even like Kerry. He just pays me out of the $55 bazillion dollars that he had left over from the election.

I am Mort Gage and I approve this message.
