Evan Bayh-Can someone tell me something about this guy?

a Hoosier possibly or someone who knows...He is definitely campaigning for '08, but I know very little about him except the basics...I'm sure he is a moderate..

I'd like to outsource her job so she can "feel the pain" of those that have lost their jobs to India and other cheap-labor countries.

Most Indiana Democrats are to the right of most republicans. Plus his wife is a big snob.

Bayh was raised in the Beltway and has lived there most of his life, the only exception was when he served as Indiana Governor. There is little of Hoosier in Bayh, and I don't think he even likes basketball.

Example: I saw a segment on CSPAN where he was in NH and an older woman who seemed to be loyal Dem asked him about how we will have a chance with elections being fixed by voting machines, specifically, OH. His answer: "Ma'am I respectfully disagree with your statement that the election in Ohio was fixed......." followed by some wimpy blah- blah-blah.

If you don't support LABOR, strong Environmental Protection, FAIR Trade, or increased wages for the Middle Class instead of Dividends for stockholders and perks for CEO's, Bayh is your guy.

He's a likeable red-state former governor. He can win, especially if he (unlike Kerry, who I worked my ass off for), picks a running mate who brings SOMETHING useful to the ticket.

Fuck him and the DLC.

day, taking questions from voters in what appeared to be some constituents meeting. He seemed reasonable enough. But then an elderly woman questioned him about the theft of the 2000 election, AND the theft of the 2004 election - as in - how can we know our votes are protected, and he told her he disagreed with her about the 2004 vote theft. Well, anybody who had even a half-assed idea about how much voter fraud there was, in Ohio ALONE, never mind in Florida and elsewhere, would have been taken aback by that. I was. Also, it would have behooved him to be a little more diplomatic in his response to her, rather than challenging her assertion. Criminey - she was a voter for heaven's sakes! She was one of the good guys, too. If he really had disagreed with her, he should have kept that to himself.

I must say, that incident alone makes me hope somebody else runs for president. As far as I recall, he's capitulated to the bad guys a few times too many. And his discussion with these folks on CSPAN was mealy-mouthed to say the least. Howard Dean comes out and says what needs to be said. Bayh seemed like he was Cirque de Soleil-ing around any firm stances of any sort. I must say I wasn't impressed.

But if he winds up being a contender, I'll look him over. It's better than another republi-CON, that's for sure.

Evan is as useless as teats on a boar hog. But he has that kind of middle of the road mushiness that DLC types love...plus he can garner Republican votes in a VERY Republican state. I will be working here in Indianapolis to defeat his monkey ass, if and when it comes to that.

I'll give him money, I'll write to the local papers, I'll nag out of state relatives to vote for him, I'll spend my summer vacation going anywhere he asks me to go to try and take sanity back into the White House. Pissing on each other and calling each other DINO is part of the fuck up last year. Fuck purity tests, I want to stop the erosion of the Constitution and the narrowing of the future that's going on under Republican mismanagement.

I don't think he can excite the base and pull independents.

It is hard to maintain a liberal voting record when you represent one of the most conservative states in the country, Indiana. It is amazing that a Democrat would even be able to be elected and re-elected from that state.

And Indianapolis has a Democratic Mayor! You are ignoring the fact that votes are diluted by a variety of factors, one of which is the fact that Congress has refused to increase the size of the House (this is one of the reasons why there is so much gerrymandering and redistricting).

We need serious electoral reform in this country. Millions have been disenfranchised by the political system, and then we have you come along and say that we are conservative on the basis of our screwed up election system.
