'Hurricane Karen' on mission and more...
http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/07/23/whughes23.xml

Karen Hughes, the Texan who is credited with helping George W. Bush win two elections, set out her stall yesterday for a yet more daunting task - rebranding America to the Arab world.

"Hurricane Karen" has taken on and triumphed at her fair share of tricky public relations assignments. She softened Mr Bush's conservative image in his two presidential runs and before that in his two campaigns to be governor of Texas.

Her ambition is to defeat "propaganda with truth", and she will be guided by four Es - engagement, exchanges, education and empowerment.

So will Mrs Hughes have to temper her Texan forthrightness to woo the Arab world, the primary focus of her new job? She was not asked. But it is probably astute of the White House to appoint another of Mr Bush's trusted confidantes, Dina Powell, an Arab-American, to be her number two.

(end snip, emphasis mine)

I have two comments:

1) good luck sorting out the propaganda
2) you all remember Dina Powell? former assistant to * in charge of hiring and firing in the WH? Wife of Richard Powell of GOPUSA? Small world, isn't it?

3. I'm sure that a patriarchal Middle Eastern culture...
... will eagerly take advice on how to love the United States from an American woman of Amazonian proportions who's one of Bush's nearest confidantes. Sounds like great marketing to me.... :P
