Ex-CIA officer says Bush must act on leak
On radio, former intelligence analyst says national security hampered

Updated: 1:13 p.m. ET July 23, 2005

WASHINGTON - President Bush is jeopardizing national security by not disciplining Karl Rove for his role in leaking the name of a CIA officer, and has hampered efforts to recruit informants in the war on terror, former U.S. intelligence officers say.

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson used the Democratic Party’s weekly radio address Saturday to reiterate comments he made Friday to a panel of House and Senate Democrats.

At that event, Johnson and others expressed great frustration that CIA operative Valerie Plame’s name was made public. Plame is married to former ambassador Joseph Wilson, a critic of Bush’s Iraq policy.
“Instead of a president concerned first and foremost with protecting this country and the intelligence officers who serve it, we are confronted with a president who is willing to sit by while political operatives savage the reputations of good Americans like Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson,” Johnson said in the radio address.......

2. "a critic of Bush's Iraq policy."
Does that mean his Iraq policy is officially to lie, cheat, and steal? That was what Wilson was criticizing.

4. Scooter Libby
This asshole is the VP's Chief of Staff. The VP requested the CIA that someone be sent to Niger. Later Cheney claims that he didn't read the report. Then Libby talks to press about Joe Wilson and Valarie Wilson. Hmmmm...?

5. Inaction is inexcusable.
Really, what would you do
If someone told you that your babysitter was abusing your kids?
If you suspect your employee of dipping from the cash drawer?
If you think your credit card has been stolen?
If you think your dog is peeing on your roses?

Even if you don't have proof?

Here's what you do. You protect the security of what's important to you. You remove access IMMEDIATELY. You don't wait for more abuse. Even if you can't prove guilt, you do what's necessary to mitigate the damage.

Guilt or innocence is for a judge and jury to determine. That's Fitzgerald's job, and it takes time. But first, you remove access. You don't leave your kids with the babysitter while you wait for the judge to say those black and blue marks are from your babysitter beating the crap out of your children.

I'm not saying Rove doesn't deserve a trial. He absolutely deserves one. But how does the WH defend their inaction until that happens?

Remove his clearance and get him out of the WH until the investigation is finished. Anything else is just NUTS.
