Faux news ain't as popular as they would have us believe....
They are sinking back to where they belong. Look they have a loyal core of people who watch them but they are by now means the threat we make them out to be...

This past week, not one Prime Time show made it into the top 40.

http://www.top5s.com/tvcable.htm

On a regular basis, they have about 1.8 million people watching them at any given time during Prime Time....

That is less than 1% of the total population......

A little perspective is all we need.....

1. their competition are the other cable news show
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 09:23 PM by imenja
not network or even basic cable prime time programming. In Cable news, they dominate. Their viewership is close to twice as high as CNN and MSNBC, which is always last.

Anyway, they are number five on your list of top cable networks.

7. Yea, so......
This is pretty good proof that most people still get their news from the Networks, radio, newspaper and from talking to friends.......

That is why, we must remember, people are not a s outraged as we are about the stuff that goes on in the Bush White House. they simply don't know.....

8. that may be true
but this chart does not prove that. It's not a survey of news programming.

14. No but it shows what people are watching on their Cable.....
Which is, when it all comes down to it, the only way to look at it....

The "news" competes with sponge bob and Law and Order for eyes....

It's all relevant.....

And who cares whether the public is watching Fox or CNN, it's all crapolla anyway...

The only thing about Fox is that it provides a "Safe" haven for people who consider themselves "conservative".

Also, the are not increasing there share. The reason they jumped so high was because they were not on all that many cable outlets as CNN was. Now that they are as ubiquitous as CNN, they have leveled off and even dropped a bit....

20. I care if they watch Fox rather than CNN
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 10:39 PM by imenja
Fox viewers vote overwhelmingly Republican. That channel is enormously influential in spreading GOP propaganda. They are not all the same. It
no doubts make you feel better to imagine people don't watch them, but that is not the reality. And if we don't face political realities, we can't change them.

Fox's ratings for the presidential debates trounced the other cable news networks and were even higher than some of the networks. And guess who moderated them. Sean Hannity. You know he just ridiculed Kerry and sang Bush's praises. People are influenced by the media, which is a big part of the reason why so many Americans voted for Bush.

15. Never been to a Walmart....
But the local "discount Store" here in Cleveland, alternates between CNN and Fox. I think they do that on purpose.

But in any event, the sound is usually off and the people are reading the scroll.....

16. I read an article that said Walmart had installed TVs in
there stores in the south and that they showed the Faux Election coverage. I assume they are still showing Fox News and I don't know if the TV have made it up north since I don't go into Walmarts anymore.

18. I rarely go in...
but I'll have to pay attention now. When I go into any business that has it on, I make sure I tell them I can't shop there if they're showing Fox.

19. I don't know what Fred Meyer's politics are, but what I do know is....
They exist in blue states, as I've never seen one that wasn't on the west coast. So they know they don't want to appear too hostile to us.

Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 09:25 PM by nankerphelge
the other media outlets that panicked and thought they needed to start copying faux's style need a little perspective. None but the worst morons can choke down that naked propaganda everyday without getting sick.
