to do what is right by the people? I don't All I see is the same names recycled over and over and over again between the elected group of officials and the appointed group. Once some one has work out his/her good graces in either of those, they get shifted to the K Street firms and they never go away. Unfortunately the only mechanism to change the rules are by those very same rule makers. I realize that these bad actors need to be voted out, but when they are some next administration simply appoints them to something and they are out of the public eye for scrutiny long enough for people to forget. Eventually they surface again. Witness the large number of Nixon/Ford criminals still floating around in various offices and agencies in this administration.

I do have hope, though. Even the Soviet Union collapsed under its own weight.

Unfortunately, they are the extreme minority.

I've met John Conyers and think he's a great man. The record of much of the congressional black caucus is quite impressive. Waxman, Feingold, Sanders and a few others have demonstrated their dedication to really representing the interest of the voters. But IMHO very few others are deserve any trust.

In the government, not many at all. And all, only to a certain extent.

I think people like Boxer and Conyers are trustworthy, insofar as their motives seem to be driven by what's best for the people. But, they are rare exceptions. Most of the people I trusted and supported over the years turned out to be miserable disappointments, and completely unworthy of that trust.

Over time, it seems that politics, as a system, takes good, decent men and women and turns them into disingenuous, callous, money-grubbing, what's-in-it-for-me, everything's-for-sale a-holes, completely devoid of the integrity and values they had when they first entered office.

The "two Party" system has become a joke, too. The DLC "Republicrats" are destroying our Party from within by abetting the assimilation of us and our once great Democartic beliefs and values on the altar of the Almighty Buck. Between the DLC, churning out a new set of these slimy "Republicrats" for our side of the aisle, and the complete ease with which they other side is able to smear us into impotency, they may not even have to steal many more elections to dominate this country for generations.

So, when I see someone who has not been sullied by the system, and who has the brains, the talent, the heart, and the soul to go in at the top and fight the good fight for me, my family, my friends, and my country, I support that person. I trust that person. And "that person" is Wes Clark. He's not perfect, but he is ideal. If it were not for him, I would be completely devoid of all hope.

Should 2008 come, and I find he will not run, or if he runs, and this Party fails to nominate him, I see no hope for this Party, this country, this system of government. I know it sounds melodramatic, but it's genuinely how I feel. I trust Wes Clark.

Many are disappointed in either his losing or his campaign, but even the Republicans never found any lies in his statements or past.

Since the election, he has put in writing and in speeches truth that few others can match. Even for those who did not support him or will not support him, there is no reason for the LW to challange his honesty or integrity - two things that seem very important to him - unless they have clear cut examples of lying.

We are being "governed" by a crime family. At times I think this plays into the freepers' hands. For years they complained that they couldn't trust the government. Now we're saying it. Soon no one will trust the government. Then what?

I sort of doubt a 100 million man march calling for the resignation of the entire federal government would ever happen, though. The sheeple are sheep, and march just as mindlessly into being slaughtered as they munch on whatever scraps they're thrown.

I don't have the slightest doubt the whole lot of them would sign off on massacres of their own constituents in exchange for a few extra dollars of porkbarrel funds to pocket.

Also, we need to get our progressive candidate farm teams going. Does no good to grouse about our national representation if we don't have people with local street cred ready to go up against traitors.

Byrd, Pelosi, Rangel, Bernie Sanders, Conyers and a baker's dozen or so in both chambers occasionally seem to remember their oath to the Constitution, but the rest are just basically a bunch of whores who occasionally have good days. Those on the Puke side of the aisle don't even occasionally have good days.
