When Fidelis Attacks
Fidelis, a national Catholic-based advocacy organization, is planning to launch an Internet advertising campaign against Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), criticizing them for indulging in anti-religious bigotry. The ad campaign will begin Thursday and Friday of this week. Ads will run on blogs such as Townhall.com and Powerlineblog.com, they will also run on CatholicExchange.com, a website that caters to Catholics. The opening salvo predicts that religion will be a heated topic during the battle to confirm Judge John Roberts, Bush's choice to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Officials with Fidelis say ads may run in an Iowa market in order to put pressure on Harkin, who they say has compared Christian broadcasters to the Taliban.

2. So they're preaching to the chior? I don't understand.
I'm a Catholic, and I can't understand what these nuts are trying to do. Oh, I understand they want Roberts confirmed because they think he will overturn Roe, but why would you spend your $$ on Catholic web sites?

I go to Church every Sunday, pray (for myself mostly!) and try to treat my fellow man as I want to be treated, but I NEVER go to any of those web sites!

I guess I sould stop complaining though, because my biggest gripe during the 2004 campaign was that the "religious" were buying air time on TV and sponsoring nasty ads against Kerry. I thought that was wrong and they should loose their tax exempt status for doing it. At least this time they're keeping their tirades in their own house!
