US Elections run by the mob for the 'pukes...
I found this article while hunting on the web for something else:

'Thugs, Racketeers Counting American Votes

“An electronic voting system is to a mechanical one what a nuclear bomb is to a hand grenade... If someone manages to sabotage it, the results can be catastrophic."

November 24 2004-Venice,FL.
by Daniel Hopsicker

While Ukrainians poured into the streets of their capital Kiev to protest a presidential election they say was stolen by that country’s current regime, here in the U.S. a little-known election company called Sequoia Pacific, responsible for putting our own ‘current regime’ in power four years ago, was at the center of controversy last week... for the second Presidential election in a row.
While U.S. newspapers have been filled with quotes from American officials pontificating about election miscues in the Ukrainian election, doubts have been raised anew about the accuracy of the election results of Sequoia Pacific, fingered for blame four years ago in the Florida Vote Snafu which marred the 2000 election.

“Mum’s the word"

Senator Richard Lugar, ‘monitoring’ butterfly ballots in Cyrillic, issued a statement calling the Ukrainian election “unfair.” And a top White House representative said authorities in the Ukraine appeared to have indulged in a "concerted and forceful program" of fraud.'

This is yet another article on election fraud in the US, but it covers the depth and breadth of the problem nicely.

My question is - if the 'pukes control the media and the election machines, how do we break this criminal enterprise open and make the US electoral process honest again?

I'd be interested in any suggestions you might have regarding grassroots action we might take that might help.

I think the biggest challenge we have in confronting the corruption we face is the media's complicity.

1. Take the DLC route - pretend it isn't happening and "get over it"...
But if we really want to stop it and turn it around in its tracks, then we will have to get a set of spokespersons; high profile and vocal. There must be more than one and they can never be together at one place at any one time. I am not joking or being sarcastic. I am serious...

3. yes, that's a very real concern
It's likely a lot of assassinations of people speaking out on the subject will happen when this really gets blown wide open.

4. i was fairly impressed by the Cindy Vigil....
the other nite, and what really struck me was the surprise on the faces of drivers-by. The solution has to be coordinated action by the many and a way to breakdown mis-information in as simple a way possible regarding 9/11, electoral fraud, Iraq, and just as important..how and who for our government works.

5. Yes, if you are the DLC or Kos, pretend it isn't happening.
Then Lose lose LOSE -and wonder why.

6. This is one of those issues where I think the public MUST get involved...
Elected officials might have some vested interest in keeping things as they are, or might be wary of reprisals from whomever might be behind the fraud. And I guess when you're directly involved, the temptation to tamper with the elections is almost too much to resist.

One thing I thought might be possible as a grassroots action is to organize a 'free and fair elections' organization not affiliated with either party who could go in immediately before and immediately after an election to test the machines (with press backup) to make sure nothing has been rigged. In theory, the party officials on scene are supposed to be doing that little task, but it has become obvious they're falling down on the job. We need some external oversight by someone new - regular folks who vote according to their conscience, but are not directly affiliated with a party and can't be controlled. Maybe volunteers who are randomly choosen via name drawing from the goldfish bowl at the last minute - no one knows until just before the election starts who will be testing the machines for rigging, and volunteers of any political persuasion (including unregistered voters with appropriate ID) are eligible for the pot.

It's a tough nut to crack, but we could do some things that might help. I can tolerate a certain amount of corruption in the system since it's inevitable, but I think the corruption has gone way too far and needs to be addressed to bring things back into line. If that doesn't happen, then we might as well dump elections all together and resign ourselves to a dictatorship.

7. Many DU-ers have been trying to figure out ways to break this scam
wide open.

Check the forum site: 2004 Election Results and Discussion.

The latest wrinkle I've seen was used in the recent San Diego election where a parallel election was held by a group during the election, grabbing people who had just voted and having them vote in THEIR election.

Then, they compared the results of their election with the results of the alleged "real" one. Serious discrepancies were apparently found (which it seems to me is nearly always the case when an electronic voting machine result is audited).

This group is demanding a recount to see if the results are indeed doctored.

The group is also selling "kits" for groups around the country to do this exact same thing for local or any other type of election. It will be interesting to follow what happens with this.

Beyond that, the best I've figured out to do is to write LTTEs and support those who are working to restore our democracy, folks like www.uscountvotes.org and others.

Glad to see you're involved in this issue. It's the most crucial issue in the country and the one demanding the most activism.
