I feel like I have been on a vacation in Aruba
My heart goes out to the parents and relatives of the kid that is missing in Aruba. Having said that, the cable news have been running the story non stop for the last several months. We have kids dying in Iraq, homeless people in the streets, jobs being outsourced, pay being cut, gas prices skyrocketing, people going hungry, drug problems, kids going without food, etc.

Cant the MEDIA find a NEWS story that is an issue to all of us. Like HEALTH CARE or JOBS?

I got a topic idea, THE ILLEGAL WAR IN IRAQ!

1. But what reporter wants to report from Iraq, rather than do it from ARUBA?
I mean, come on! :)

They can't leave with tan lines and Iraq doesn't have the same type of beaches :spray:

8. Poor Gretta, looks like they made her come back home....
Damn, just when she was getting used to hitting the beach and sipping umbrella drinks by day and then spending a few hours per evening re-hashing the same shit over and over--of course always joined by the girls mother for another coffee klatch type of meeting.

BORING....

3. Not interesting enough....
They'll probably follow some pretty blonde girl who stands up against Iraq until the moon comes down though, and plaster it all over the television.

Let's see what else isn't reported...Oh right Governor taft convicted on ethics/bribery violations. Tom DeLay scandal, Jack Abramoff being indicted, and numerous allegations surrounding the downing street minutes.

So the corporate "no news" media is back at their rackett, apparently if it isn't sensational and funny like say-making fun of Bush fingering the press, it isn't worth the trouble!

No sense in wasting time trying to talk about Iraq, where everyone is dying or being dissapeared anyhow.

4. Isn't that the whole point?
Find a story that is relevant to .0000001% of the population (really, do the math) and flog it until resolution. Then find another story, selected to present a new theme.....and begin flogging that one.

In the meantime, DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING THAT MIGHT GET PEOPLE ASKING QUESTIONS. Nothing good can be reported that can salvage this administration's record....so pretend it doesn't exist anymore.

The cable networks are making themselves totally irrelevant.

I really want to see the polling data that says the American people find Ms. Halloway's situation so important that all else must take a back seat.

5. "Exactly"
I give them a few more years and they will be a thing of the past. People get tired of constant bullshit.

6. I checked your math :-)
I'm assuming about 30 people are directly concerned about this case as family members or friends

300,000,000 in US

30 / 300,000,000 = 0.00001%

For News Coverage:
One Missing White Blonde = 200 Dead Iraqis = 50,000 Starving in Darfur

7. All it would take is ONE Democrat scandal.......
And that missing girl story would be history, rarely to be visited again. Its almost a joke to flip through the channels and there is her mom on TV night after night after night. Nothing new to report, just checking in.

This of course is all just smoke and mirrors,FOX and the rest of those "news" networks could really care less,it just keeps the heat of other issues well away from the main stream.

9. "Thats the idea"
The real news gets buried underneath the old rehashed news that we have already heard about. I don't know how any of them can call themselves journalists or reports.
