1. It's isn't even him.
They have a computerized bank of Bush phonemic samples that can be spliced together electronically.

His slightly aphasic manner of speech makes this job even easier.

8. This makes no sense at all
Something's up.

With all that technology at the "ranch" they can't get live video out?

And the audio was pathetic. I don't get it.

22. On FOX they said something like -- "it's the Army providing a phone
hook-up, and while the Army is great at many things, that's apparently not one of them, ha, ha, ha." Weird. Must be in a bunker hiding from Katrina, just in case...

the audio???? bliz said he was speaking in front of reporters. seems strange that they could not broadcast live (unless told they could not do so).

"cards on his spokes" what a visual :)

Most importantly, will he be passing out water in NO when this is all over? Like he did with Jebby in FL during last year's campaign???

That's my litmus test for President Compassionate.

24. The truth is, the radio address has a long tradition
All presidents have done it for eons. Of course, Chimpy could change that, and start doing a TV address aired on say, CSPAN, that could also be covered by radio, but then he would have to face a camera WITHOUT applause. Also, editing would be more difficult. See, the thing is prerecorded, and if he screws up, they just do a retake. It would be harder to edit video, he would have to do the whole speech over again.

An' thet is work...haaaaaaaaaaard work!!!!!!

I still find it amazing that he has the FEWEST "My Fellow Americans" speeches from the Oval Office since TV became a force in Presidential communications. Remember the days when the prez would come on TV, give you a five or ten minute update, and we would subsequently be returned to regular programming? This bozo DOES NOT DO THAT. He insists on giving speeches to friendly crowds, and then gets pissed when no one covers them, because they are the same old bullshit.

25. I now think it was their way to avoid explaining why he
did not take any questions from reporters who were, supposedly, in the room. Easier with the audio, when you do not see them, so no cameras allowed, and then just a late video of him only provided by the WH.

32. It is true that occasionally people are invited to the radio address
It usuallly is a perk for big donors. They are supposed to sit quietly and not talk, applaud, cough, or move.

If he is still doing his "reporter reach around' er, I mean 'reach out' exercise, perhaps they were all in there seeing the painful process....

35. But his "radio" radio address was yesterday -- so they cannot pretend
it was this kind of a forum, unless they do the Iraqi constitution trick and just "file" it on the deadline to be continued indefinitely...

26. I understand that but...
Blitzer said it was done live in front of cameras but they won't have the video for half an hour. I don't get why the delay. And why was the audio of such poor quality? Something doesn't feel right about this.

But of course nothing sounds right about the whole administration but that's a different issue.

28. Perhaps they are doing a "day with the Dunce" on CNN
Normally, the radio address recording is not video'd. He probably had to stop and start several times, and they have to edit the video so CIA, er, I mean CNN does not make the leering feeder, er, fearless leader look like a total douche (as opposed to 'Il Douche'). They probably pulled the audio off the video feed, not off the master recording.

He's a dickhead, and he's excessively managed. You'd think they would make him come off looking better than he does, given all of his "handling" -- you have to wonder how bad it would be without all of the minders sweeping shit under the rug?

30. Very "reassuring," don't you think? Both for Katrina and Iraq...
Sort of reminiscent of his first appearances after 9/11, Our fearless leader fully in control. I don't think cameras, as in plural, were there, just one, theirs; and like with all "feeds," it has to be packaged and done later. Why they chose to do it this way is an excellent question since it only re-enforces people's notion that he is hiding.
