Gen Clark on AAR Majority Report soon
I believe that Gen Clark will be on the Majority Report with Sam Seder in the 9 o'clock hour...ET.

6. It's incredible.
I can't believe all the places he's traveling to just this week, plus interviews plus blogging etc. etc... He sounded just a little tired and hoarse in this interview, but it might have been the phone connection.

5. Yes, but the segment was too short.
Apparently some "trouble with the phone" -- they said they'll have him on again, realizing they hadn't spoken in the depth they wanted to.

7. Thanks, Sparkly!
Our "Progressive Talk" station here doesn't carry "The Majority Report". We have Randi Rhodes (on delay) from 6-10pm. And, I couldn't get the AAR stream going online.

I was so bummed I missed it!

9. It was very short
Mostly he spoke about the Post op-ed, the diplomacy thing, etc....Said Bush is screwing up the diplomatic thing. By threatening Iraq's neighbors, they've created a situation where countries like Syria and Iran have a vested interest in seeing that we don't succeed, although they don't want a full scale war.

Said Bush talked tough to Syria and Iran in an attempt to appeal to right wing base.

Wes doesn't think the situation (although not moving forward) is not so bad yet that we have to immediately pullout. There is still a little bit of time to work the problem...but not much.

Talked about the 3 pronged approach. When asked about Feingold's timeline, he said he likes Feingold, thinks he's a fine person, but he doesn't agree with setting a timeline, says it would work against our efforts there to fulfill our responsibilities there...He thinks it's an understandable idea and he's in sympathy with the intent but it's not a good idea.

Says Iraq breaking into three states would be very bad, creating an unstable situation that would generate war.

Says we have to help the Iraqis forge a concensus in their Constitution to keep the country together, train the Iraqi military...then "we need to leave"....but we need the diplomacy or it won't work....And that was it.....

Sam said they were having problems with the connection and that they will have him on again so they could discuss the issue at length.

10. That's an excellent synopsis
I liked his words when he answered the question, "Do you think the Bush administration EVER focused on diplomacy there?" "NO," he answered firmly. "They focused on the political groundwork domestically, appealing to their base -- they talked tough."

11. About Feingold's timeline...

I remember Wes once saying that it is important that you never telegraph to your enemy any movements or pull-outs. He said this would invite attacks on the troops during these times, and said that the elements of secrecy and surprise serve to protect the troops longer. So, I understand completely why he is against an announced deadline for troop withdrawal, while not being against the withdrawal itself.

The fact that he thinks there is a "little bit" of time left, "but not much" tells me he knows there needs to be a withdrawal if the problem cannot be "worked".

Sounds like it was a very good, if short, interview! I wish I had XM (thanks for the info, AntiCoup2K4!) This is the forst time I've ever wanted to listed to Alan Colmes' Show! LOL!

12. I believe Colmes is also syndicated by FAUX News radio
So if you're brave enough to try your right wing AM stations, you might find him there.

Colmes actually shows some backbone on his radio show, but I'd still rather hear Mike Malloy in real time.
