Evidence of Dereliction, #1: Bush's response to Hurricane Charley

This is the first thread in a series of threads in which specific "talking points" will be presented and discussed pertaining to Bush's treasonous dereliction of duty in neglecting the responsibilities of his Office

This is a quick summary of Bush's response to Hurricane Charley last year. To think think that all his "compassion" was just an act, a ploy.

On the afternoon (3:00 hour local time)of Friday, August 13th, Hurricane Charley slammed into southwestern Florida.

Within 24 hours of Charley hitting land, the White House had decided that Bush would be touring the disaster area the following morning

President and Mrs. Bush's Remarks at Sioux City, Iowa Rally

1:15 P.M. CDT
Tomorrow, I'm going to travel down to Florida to visit with those whose lives have been hurt by Hurricane Charlie. I just want them to know that our federal government is responding quickly. We have got aid stations in place. FEMA federal officials are on the ground working with state and local officials. Many lives have been affected by this hurricane. And I know you join me in sending our prayers to those people who look for solace and help. (Applause)

Sure enough, less than 40 hours after Charley made landfall, the President was in Florida.

President Tours Hurricane Damage

Sunday, August 15 10:46 A.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: You know the job of the federal government and the state government is to surge resources as quickly as possible to disaster areas. And that's exactly what's happening now. We choppered over and saw the devastation of this area. A lot of people's lives are turned upside down. We've got ice and water moving in, trailers for people to live in are moving in. The state is providing security so that people can have peace of mind that their neighborhoods will be safe. There's a lot of compassion moving in the area, the Red Cross is here.
What I'm telling you is that there's a lot of help moving into this part of the world -- it's going to take a while to rebuild it. But the government's job is to help people help rebuild their lives, and that's what's happening.
The coordination between the federal government and the state government and the local government is really important. I think it's excellent now. The governor can speak to that, if you like. But it's really important that when we say we're going to do something, that it actually happens. And that's what we're following through on now.

2. I remember clearly the photo-ops of him actually handling ice
and pretending to hand it to people waiting in line. What a smuck he is!

I agree - keep it coming!

3. They're going to counter with...
"People claimed that the President was just doing it for the re-election photo-op and he was just getting in the way and slowing things down. He shouldn't have been there. If he goes down there his entourage will take away from the relief effort."
I heard this on a talk radio show, I believe it was Rush though I'm not sure. Regardless, we know its bullshit. He simply doesn't want to face the public when they're hyper-emotional and his poll numbers are so far in the tank. I don't think he could handle the buzz-kill if someone went off on him. I bet his handlers are thinking the same thing.

4. Thanks!
While reading one of the massive threads in GD I was asking myself how he responded to Charley - Florida, mostly rich, mostly white. Sorry, I don't mean to bring race into it, but it seems, to me, that race is a big part of what he's doing - or not doing.
