One million homeless and unemployed people...
Many are injured, many are left with nothing.

Law is breaking down horribly, further victimizing those traumatized by surviving the hurricane. Severe shortages of gasoline, threatening the rest of the country. Mass chaos in 3 STATES!

We have a President (and his party) who are indifferent. When hearing the stories about the suffering of these disaster victims, I feel sick.

The entire economic productivity of a major American city was wiped out overnight. A wide swathe of economic productivity in 3 STATES was wiped out overnight. People are suffering on a scale we've never seen in America before. All indications are that this suffering will get even worse.

How many people have died? Will our government even be honest about that? How many families have been torn to pieces?

What does all this mean to the future of our country? Especially when our Federal Government is basically inoperative? What effect will this have on top of the massive bleeding of dollars into the war machine? Do we need to worry about economic collapse?

I watch this play out on TV, and all I want to do is cry. I'm horrified by the cruelty and heartlessness of people as they look on this disaster with indifference. It makes me worry even more for our future. I feel as if my country is falling apart and I'm forced to watch it's disintigration.

And I get angry at that useless thing in the White House who has caused so much suffering of our people. I can only hope that the laser light of media coverage will force action to alleviate some of this suffering. I get tired of the Republican Party giving us the finger.

I have to wonder as I watch this chaos - what's next?

1. Actually we have seen this scale of suffering in America before

It was during the great depression when Bush's prior incarnation Hoover resided over America.

Maybe the people displaced can live in tents called Bushvilles.

3. There are a lot of refugees from NO who are poor, but...
...there were also middle class and wealthy people. The middle class are in the same boat as the poor. The wealthy are traumatized, but don't get to look forward to homelessness and unemployment.

Bush - and others - should not stereotype the residents of New Orleans.

It's obvious that the level of suffering is huge.
