I ask myself: what if NOLA was a terrorist attack?
I mean, Bush's team has had 4 years to prepare for such a thing.

What if instead of a hurricane, it was a dirty bomb, weaponized anthrax, poison gas, you know, all the stuff they told us to worry about in order to go along with invading Iraq and approve of the Patriot Act. (do you still have your duct tape?)

So... I'm looking at NOLA, and, except for the water, I'm looking at a similar scale of event, no? Emergency medical help needed. Mass evacuation needed. And how are we handling it????

It seems that we're LESS prepared to handle a terrorist attack NOW than we were 9/10/01!

If Kerry had been (allowed to be) elected and he redirected funds from Iraq to "first responders" like he wanted, I wonder how many fewer deaths there would be NOLA?

3. They are more of a "Fly by the seat of your pants" group.
No plan just go and kick ass.

Idiot mentality.

5. From O'Malley's DNC speech...
Sadly, almost three years after that fateful day when thousands of moms and dads, sons and daughters, didn’t come home from work on September 11th, America’s cities and towns, America’s ports and borders, and America’s heartland remain needlessly vulnerable.

Three years later, our first responders still don’t have the communications technology and intelligence they need to prevent or respond to another terrorist attack.

Where is the urgency, Mr. President, when three years later, our fire fighters and police officers – from New York to Los Angeles; from Pittsburgh to St. Louis to Miami – still lack the funds to keep our families safe and still don’t have the protective gear they need to save American lives. Ask America’s mayors. Ask America’s fire fighters and police officers on the front lines here at home.

6. All the talk about preparing for a terror attack was just that: talk.
Talk and a bunch of fancy stationery with the words DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY on it printed up.

Tall buildings still don't have evacuation plans, containers are still not searched at seaports, police and fire departments face budget cuts, on and on and on. NOTHING new was done, except for making people take off their shoes at airports.

:grr:

I've saying this since the beginning, but has Bush ever done one little tiny thing to better the lives of ordinary Americans or to make them safer? No. Everything he's done is to increase corporate profits and to line the pockets of his good pals.

7. No terrorist could ever match the force of nature.
That being said, if we are not really concerned about the "have-nots" in country there are hundreds of NOs just waiting to happen across this nation. And with the meth epidemic hitting the red states, the results would be even more disasterous if a disaster of equal proportions hit the mid-west...there just would not be as many people in one location.

Our priorities are out of whack in this nation. Fetuses before living people, war over peace, tax cuts over social services, greed and selfishness over sharing, hate over love.

8. No, that'd be BIG GOVERNMENT sticking its nose into our lives!
And we can't have Big Mother Government ensuring that our cities have the resources necessary to survive a category 5 hurricane or a terrorist attack....because that'd be a "handout." :eyes:

I fucking hate conservatism.
