Miss.has 3,800 National Guard troops in Iraq, and La. has about 3,000

According to this article, approx. 40% of National Guard troops from La. and Miss. are deployed in Iraq; I suspect Alabama has about the same percentage too, in the Iraqi Killing Fields. I heard on the radio that thousands of National Guardsmen are being sent over from other parts of the country (CALIFORNIA, for instance) to help with evacuations and to restore law and order in New Orleans and other places of need.

Look what the f*cking monkey's BACKDOOR DRAFT to the sensless death-spiral Iraq has wrought here at home, where the local (in-state)National Guard could have responded immediately to help, save lives and prevent chaos in our drowning cities? How much suffering could have been prevented?

The f*cking witless Democrats had BETTER drum this fact into even the thickest American skulls, like a mantra.

Could the Katrina's overwhelming man-power and financial burden provide our exit strategy out of Iraq? Should the Dems be putting this out there NOW?

Here in Wisconsin, our governor Doyle just deployed troops to Mississippi.

However I read, that because of the war, the national guard is not under direct control of states, but is under control of Washington. So states have to ask Washington permission to send guard. It is all up to Washington.

"And while the National Guards of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida are deployed to help hurricane victims, officials here say they don't anticipate our troops will be put on disaster duty.

"Our Wisconsin Guard troops at Camp Shelby are on active duty, which means their boss isn't the governor of any state right now, it's the President of the United States," says Lt. Col. Donovan, "So it is remotely possible that their services might be required but it would take a directive from the President to put our Wisconsin National Guard troops on active duty out in the streets of Mississippi."

But he says the exact timing of their departure will be controlled by the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., which stepped in to synchronize the arrival of military units in the hurricane area so that they can be used most effectively.
