Bush:“I just can’t imagine waving a sign that says ‘Come and get me now.’”
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 02:29 PM by kerrygoddess
“I just can’t imagine waving a sign that says ‘Come and get me now.’”
September 1st, 2005

This morning as tens of thousands of tired, hungry, hot, frustrated refugees waited to be evacuated from the Superdome and other areas in New Orleans, Bush once again showed his lack of compassion, sympathy and understanding for the desperate, stranded victims of Hurricane Katrina in an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Bush, who spoke as tens of thousands of people were evacuated on buses from the Superdome in New Orleans to the Astrodome in Houston, more than 300 miles away, expressed sympathy for those still stranded.

“Thousands have been rescued, there are thousands more to be rescued,” he said.

“I just can’t imagine waving a sign that says `Come and get me now.’”

It’s easy to understand why George W. Bush “can’t imagine waving a sign that says `Come and get me now,’” he knows damn well he will never be in those circumstances!

1. Bush doesn't wave signs
He sends Poppy and Uncle Bill in to do a photo-op.

3. Bush doesn't need a sign to have people come and get him
He just informs his assistants of his wishes and they get him the mode of transportation (or whatever) he desires.

It is unbelievable how badly Bush is fucking this up. Rove must have his mind on other things. He's left the Chimp to just run about wildly like an unsupervised 4 year old who got into mommy's diet pills.

4. What a jackass.
Seriously. The media gives him points for stating and restating the obvious, and that's all he has to do.

8. That's the PROBLEM. He can't IMAGINE distress, poverty,
being stranded, slowly dying. He doesn't want to think about it and he doesn't, so these are all just scenes on a TV screen for him.

9. You know something, Mr. Bush? Neither can I
I mean, the range and the depth of this tragedy happening right before my eyes is nearly unfathomable. But see, I'm just a private citizen. I have a thousand bucks to my name, I live from paycheck to paycheck. I know that if something like this happened to me, I'd take up permanent residence in the Land of the Fucked.

You, on the other hand, are the goddam President of the United States. You have power and resources at your beck and call that I can't even dream of. And you're sitting there on "Good Morning America" marveling about the plight of your own citizens. Don't take this the wrong way, sir, but you're a fucking idiot.

If I ever descend to the level of incompetence and disinterest you're showing with that comment, I pray to God that I retain enough intelligence to blow my brains out.

10. Yesterday he said...
"I can't tell you how terrible the situation is" and I thought: No sh!t, Sherlock. You flew over in your airplane, rather than land and see things up close.

18. This 'IF' is * 'code talking' to his base...
...last month he addressed the Cindy Sheehan issue by stating 'SOME' people may feel anguish at the loss of a loved one in Iraq.

This 'IF' is, again, his way of placating his base by 'code talking' to them... he is in essence saying to them that some of 'those' people might not really need food or water and they may take it anyway...or that everything is under control and 'those' people are asking for food and water they don't need.

It is impossible for me to figure out * and his 45% of the Nation 'Bigot Squad'. They are so entrenched in their fear and hate that they can no longer speak or even think with any form of compassion.

They are to be pitied....they have lost their shining auras...

How difficult is it to put yourself in someone else's shoes?

Someone should tell Chimpy to shut his yapper. Every time he says something, he makes things worse. This is like the third time he says something awkward and inappropriate today.

15. "Well Golly Gee"--That's All You Get, Peons
This is probably the first time in Bush's whole sorry, self-absorbed life, that there have been consequences to Bush's behavior and stupidity: the draft-dodging and going AWOL were covered up and "handled," the business failures were bailed out, the drunkeness and cocaine abuse was covered up by the media and never prosecuted, the lost elections were illegally made to go away and real numbers concealed, on and on and on. A few months ago, Bush made an equally cold rich-boy remark about high gas prices that were starting to cause people real suffering, something like, "I can't wave a magic wand" to make it go away or solve it, whatever it was. Now this; no connection with people, (that would mean Bush wasn't the center of the universe, so, no), just a kind of disconeccted, "Wow, isn't that strange?" outburst from the muddle that is Bush's "mind," and nothing deeper.

16. This Silverspoon Sociopath is
and has been an Amerikan disgrace. The RW chose this shallow, arrogant fool for the sock puppet of RW agenda.

How much longer will it take for most Amerikans to notice that this asshole and his cult are screwing them over?

If there were ANY justice in the world, he would find out from first-hand experience...and nobody would come and get him either. Just leave him on the damn roof to die. Now that's what I would call KARMA!
