If I hear "chose not to evacuate" one more time
my head will explode.
That FEMA pissant was just on CNN.

Smug, smarmy bastard.
"I have no idea why these people chose not to evacuate..."

Listen, ASSHOLE, people actually exist in this world who don't have a goddam credit card. They have food stamps.
They don't have a car they can just jump into and whiz off.
They have public transportation, if they can afford it.
They don't have money for motels.

That's why they're there.
THEY COULD NOT AFFORD TO LEAVE AND THEY HAD NOWHERE TO GO.

dickhead

3. Very few people "chose" to stay
Fats Domino apparently did, and that was a dumbass thing to do, but that's about it.

4. which "journalist" will stand up to this bs and hit this "talking point"
with the truth, these people were too poor to just leave! Most of them don't even have cars. I can only think about what would happen to my grandmother in this type of situation. She is in her 80's and doesn't drive. If she were in NOLA, how could she just have left with 24 hrs notice. This is really sickening...blaming these people for being poor and black...:spank:

7. You should have heard him on NPR
He was denying the fact that there were around 2000 people at the convention center, that they had no food or water, and no protection from those with guns. Instead, he suggested that the newspeople were making it up! The arrogance of his tone--anyway, NPR had the last laugh. At the end of the interview, they stated that the FEMA director had finally got reports on the convention center. But did he apologize? Nooooo. He merely said that everything was being done that could be done. Yeah. Right.

8. Even dead-intern Scarborough last night was talking about how sad it was..
that an entire poor neighborhood in MS was devastated with many dead because people COULDN'T leave due to lack of funds...they hadn't received their end-of-month paycheck yet.

My question: Why didn't FEMA have transportation provided for poor people to leave?

of folks will have to die for. Federal, State, and Local are guilty.
There were days of notice beforehand to plan. Maybe some get out before the storm, but the plan kicks in full force in the aftermath and BASIC needs are priorities--water, food, medical(injury & disease), then transportation. Where were rescue helicopters, ships, boats? How do you go about checking attics for trapped people? I'm no pro, but goddamn it it ain't rocket science.

11. I agree. I was sympathetic to this guy at first, but then he started...
...talking crap. He was contridicting stuff that CNN was reporting when CNN showed the clips right before talking to him. He's totally ignoring the disaster at the Convention Center. He keeps saying they're dropping off food and water, but when CNN actually talks to people on the ground, they're saying they haven't seen anything at all.

I'm starting to think this guy is lying.

Screw him--right now, let's get ANYONE to take the helm of coordinating this.
