While people are dying, Chimperor Nero is mostly concerned with saving his own stupid ass, as usual. Just like on 9/11 when he couldn't scurry off fast enough in Air Force One. Well, at least once he was done reading My Pet Goat. He only peeked his precious little head out once he was sure it was all safe.

The man isn't just merely incompetent, he's a goddamn coward, and a heartless bastard.

And if pre-warned, she said something like, "the file said something like Bin Laden will attack US with planes," paraphrasing.

Will never get over that and the "mushroom cloud!"

that said a direct hit would kill 40,000 to 60,000 people in New Orleans and the city would be ruined.

I saw a TV special on it. It seems like Frontline. Does anyone remember it?

She was ever so respectful. She should have challenged the Coward's "we could not have anticipated" comment.

Toward the end of the interview she actually brought up the fact that levee failure had been anticipated by others.

Of all the network news people, Sawyer pisses me off the most.

And in Bush's sick, Oedipal, substance-abusing world, his way of proving that his penis was much, MUCH larger than his daddy's was to CAPTURE Saddam.

PLUS, he got Saddam's gun, and he can sit in the Oval Office and play with it whenever he wants.

So EVERYBODY wins...

17. Here's an article from 11/2004 that accurately foretells . . .
exactly what has happened to New Orleans. I believe the article actually predates last November, but was only then posted to this website. . .

http://www.colorado.edu/hazards/o/nov04/nov04c.html

Disasters Waiting to Happen . . . Sixth in a Series

What if Hurricane Ivan Had Not Missed New Orleans?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author’s Note: This column was originally intended to be the final disaster in the “Disasters Waiting to Happen” series. As I was developing the hypothetical situation depicting a devastating hurricane striking New Orleans, Louisiana, the disaster waiting to happen threatened to become a reality: Hurricane Ivan, a category 4 hurricane (with 140 mph winds) fluctuating to a category 5 (up to 155 mph winds), was slowly moving directly toward New Orleans. Forecasters were predicting a one-in-four chance that Ivan would remain on this direct path and would be an “extreme storm” at landfall. In reality, the storm veered to the north and made landfall east of Mobile Bay, Alabama, causing devastation and destruction well into the central Gulf shoreline and throughout the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic states.

What if Ivan Had Hit New Orleans?

New Orleans was spared, this time, but had it not been, Hurricane Ivan would have:

* Pushed a 17-foot storm surge into Lake Pontchartrain;

* Caused the levees between the lake and the city to overtop and fill the city “bowl” with water from lake levee to river levee, in some places as deep as 20 feet;

* Flooded the north shore suburbs of Lake Pontchartrain with waters pushing as much as seven miles inland; and

* Inundated inhabited areas south of the Mississippi River.

Up to 80 percent of the structures in these flooded areas would have been severely damaged from wind and water. The potential for such extensive flooding and the resulting damage is the result of a levee system that is unable to keep up with the increasing flood threats from a rapidly eroding coastline and thus unable to protect the ever-subsiding landscape.

(more. . . much more)

Of course you anticipate it - by creating a plan.

Standard procedure for disaster preparedness is to plan for the worst and hope for the best. That's why you build things like levees.

http://www.sploid.com/news/2005/09/01/fema-directing-donations-to-rev-pat-robertson-123509.php
09/01/05 02:45 PM Eastern

SPLOID EXCLUSIVE: FEMA is directing Katrina donations to none other than the Rev. Pat Robertson …
Millions of Americans and people around the world have rushed to donate money to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which is shaping up to be one of the worst U.S. disasters in history, if not the worst.
FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is the lead federal agency in the rescue & recovery operation at work in New Orleans and the Mississippi gulf coast.
FEMA has released to the media and on its Web site a list of suggested charities to help the storm’s hundreds of thousands of victims. The Red Cross is first on the list.
The Rev. Pat Robertson’s “Operation Blessing” is next on the list.
“It’s an outrage,” said privacy watchdog Bill Scannell, who alerted Sploid to the FEMA / Robertson scam. “Operation f**cking Blessing? And it’s right underneath the Red Cross link!”
Scannell, currently campaigning against the Transportation Security Administration’s refusal to turn over personal information illegally collected from 100 million U.S. air passengers, noted that Operation Blessing’s board of directors is dominated by the televanglist and his family.
The chairman, “MG Robertson,” is none other than the Rev. Pat — Marion Gordon Robertson is his real name — while Pat’s wife DeDe is vice president and son Gordon Robertson is also on the board.
The front operation for the radical, pro-assassination televangelist and Republican power broker is also based in the Rev. Pat’s headquarters, Virginia Beach.
Robertson’s shell organizations have already collected more than $25 million from the federal government under various “faith based” federal-handout programs. And with millions of distraught citizens looking to FEMA for help in finding reputable organizations to help Katrina survivors, Robertson stands to profit magnificently from the horror that has fallen on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

25. PLANNED real world disaster to check out martial law in US?
"It was suggested to me by someone that it seems like the lack of assistance in New Orleans was meant to provoke people to extreme violence and chaos. It certainly looks that way to me... but what if new orleans is being used as a test case to see, in a real world setting, how easily a motivated, angry populace (and the military personnel forced to do the dirty work) could be subdued and controlled to create a working model of how to impose endless Martial Law throughout the country while keeping those who might resist under the lid... and those in the armed forces in line. It's a thought... because I find it absolutely incredible how inept the response has been... to the point of criminality on the part of the federal government." --c., CLG reader.
