s.

DON'T LET HIM!!!

Appointments to the Supreme Court can be delayed in times of national crisis.

Yet again, this government is proving that it DOES NOT CARE about Americans in the US Gulf.

1. I have no doubt that Rehnquist died just for that reason
Really.

2. Wake up.
No, Bush didn't cause Rehnquist to die.

But a big chunk of politics is making hay with opportunities you're given.

A Supreme Court nominee is big news, but not as big as what's going on in the gulf.

But, given a choice, which story do you think Bush would prefer to have plastered all over our televisions screens? And, are his preferences in our best interests?

3. He'll try, but I think the NO story is bigger
I know I turned off TV as soon as they switched over to Rehnquist.

4. He can't. It just won't work.
New Orleans is just too big of a clusterf***. There are too many tens of thousands of dead. The entire city is gone. Wave bye bye to Rehnquist, put a yellow magnet on the coffin, and commit him to the earth from whence he came.

And I'm sure Bush will move Scalia into that spot and nominate some former Nazi field general for the new vacancy. We can deal with that when it happens, but New Orleans still won't be fixed. They'll still be finding dead people. The news shows will have total death toll reports daily, maybe a number at the corner of the screen.

Dipshit went too far with this one, and that genie just won't get back into the bottle, no matter how badly he wants it to.

Suffer, George W. Bush. And then suffer some more.

5. YOU'RE RIGHT!
What happens if we see this all the time on the news now? Sort of like when the death of Reagan overshadowed that other important issue of ____. $h*t, I can't remember now. It worked.

7. Actually though.. It will work the other way around I think..
This disaster is TOO big to have attention, even for a supreme court vacancy divert it.

8. That's assuming Rove isn't behind the scenes forcing the press to...
...toe the party propaganda line.

I don't have a good feeling about this.

Watching NO has made me wonder how this crisis could possibly get any worse. Now I know.

9. Most Americans could not
tell who was on the Supreme Court if their lives depended on it. We here at DU are political junkies but most people really don't give a thought to who is on the Supreme Court. The loss of New Orleans and everything that happened is not going to be overshadowed by the death of this man.
