The reason was simple: a Democratic governor and a Democratic city
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 01:14 PM by Writer
Sometimes in confusing, complex messes like this the simplest answer rings the truest.

This morning on Meet the Press, Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi said that got what they needed right after the storm hit.

We know what happened in New Orleans.

Gov. Blanco is a Democrat. The city of New Orleans in 65% African-American and voted overwhelmingly for Blanco and Sen. Mary Landreux.

We all want to know why - I think the answer may be quite simple.

4. Do the Gov and Mayor deserve any blame?
The feds, Brown and Bush, fairly deserve some blame, but I think the Gov and Mayor do also from what I've learned so far. Am I wrong about this?

5. Yeah, I think you're pretty much wrong on that.
But feel free to prove your assertions. I'm sure we're all eager to hear your justification for such a statement.

7. In your view, do they deserve blame? If so, why?

8. conservdem, I question your motives for posing this question
Given by your name only. I think you're trying to dig up mud.

The lack of federal response for this is within the realm of genocide. I do not tolerate the blame shift to the tireless efforts local and state workers.

9. Yes and no
There were certainly some things that were botched on the state and local level that could've been run much more efficiently. On the other hand, there was absolutely no precedent for a disaster of this magnitude in the state of Louisiana. FEMA, on the other hand, is where all of the money and experience is and they have handled similar disasters before.

If there is blame to place then I would put it on the city and state as a whole, not just on the Governor and the Mayor.

Bush, on the other hand, has no excuse. He makes ALL of the appointments and controls how much is spent in what area and has a congress that passes whatever he wants. He has NOBODY to blame for FEMA's failures but himself.

10. The future of blue cities in crisis is NO.

Look around you. What could go wrong? Better make plans to deal with it yourself, because if you can't get away, you will be surrounded, trapped and starved. You possessions will be destroyed, and your wherabouts, condition and fate lied about.

NO was a test.

Just like Ohio in 04.

Just like the invasion of Iraq.

Just like the PATRIOT act.

Just like 9-11.

Just like Florida in 00.

Just like the impeachment.

Just like the incarceration of Susan McDougal.

They know they can do anything now.

Keep in mind, these guys are global.
