1. It's ALL about the Levees (stupid)
From Truthout Tuesday 30 August 2005

The levee damage was first noticed during an assessment flight Monday afternoon, but its extent and significance were not immediately understood. By late Monday, the rising water levels here made its significance apparent.

.....

The Corps of Engineers said in a statement that the city's 17th Street Canal floodwall was breached overnight following Katrina's passage and that another breach occurred on the Industrial Canal during the storm.

Closing the gaps is "essential so that water can be removed from the city," the statement said.

"The Corps is working with the US Coast Guard, Army National Guard and other state and federal authorities to bring in all assets available to expedite the process," the statement said. Walter Baumy, Engineering Division chief and project manager for closing the breach, said the Corps was attempting to contract for materials such as rock, super-sized sand bags, cranes, barges, helicopters and other equipment "to close the gap and stop the flow of water from Lake Pontchartrain into the city."

3. We can shock and awe whole countries.
Dump 500,000lbs of TNT on a single sortie...but we can't plug 600 feet of levee in 5+ days? Unbelievable.

2. No Breech = no NO disaster
... still disaster along the coast but all the forces sent in to NO would have beeen used across the coast!

And look at how fast they're dropping bags now ... 1 every two minutes ... why not on Monday?

WHERE WAS THE PLAN TO DEAL WITH TERRORISTS BLOWING UP A LEVEE -- IT IS THE SAME PLAN they could have used to prevent this entire disaster!

4. I see you understand the problem?
1. How easy it would have been for a terrorist to sink New Orleans.

2. What the hell is the big deal about piling up a mound of dirt and debris?

This is another example of the FLOP this whole thing has been. A Failure to Lead On Purpose.

5. Exactly! Terrorist attack on levees UNFORSEEABLE?
Wouldn't part of the plan to deal with a terrorist attack on New Orleans look to a way to patch levee's blown up by a simple truck/car bomb driven right up to it?

Here's google's streetmaps before and after the levee break:

Look at the left side of the canal, Orpheum Ave runs ALONG the wall!

Seriously, their planning for disasters of any kinds is obviously just not there.

6. Terrorists blowing up the levees? It would never happen.
Anyone who's smart enough to figure out how to do it is smart enough to realize that so too many black people would die for the Bush empire to care.
