That's the question that needs to be asked, repeatedly if necessary. I appreciate what you said this morning on Meet the Press in the opening statements but I am especially grateful that you asked about Chertoff's resignation or other resignations. I have watched Brown and Chertoff in the last few days as they blatantly lied about their "progress" in the aftermath of Katrina. Not only has the Federal Government failed us miserably, but now they are trying to deny the failure which is so obvious to the rest of America and to the rest of the world. It is outrageous and unacceptable. I thought the whole idea of supporting Bush and his administration was that they WOULD protect us, keep us safer. That they, under the guise of The Dept.of Homeland Security, would be prepared to keep us "secure" especially in times of disaster. Bush exhibited a colossal failure of leadership. The dismantling of FEMA is an obvious disaster in its own rite. I cannot tolerate the lies of this administration or its officials anymore. The hurricane was a natural disaster, one feared for years. This natural disaster was exacerbated by the horrible response of our Federal Government. The levee was a "foreseeable" problem despite what Bush and his people are saying. Mayor Nagin and Gov. Blanco are right. They have done well by their people which cannot be said of Bush. The people, the majority of them, left in New Orleans were the poor, the elderly, the elderly poor, the young, and even the sick; I am appalled that our "president" the self-proclaimed "man of faith" who public ally brags about being "Christian" and speaks profusely about "morals" allowed people to suffer and die while he vacationed, attended other functions, played guitar with celebrities, and, worst of all, flew over in a plane and didn't stop. It's despicable. There is NO defending this public failure, there is no excuse for this negligence. Bush embarrassed us in front of the world in a way that makes us vulnerable. Right now is the time for accountability. Bush and his people are NOT above the law. They are "elected" officials or officials chosen by Bush, they are ACCOUNTABLE for their behavior. The press should begin and continue to ask the hard, hard questions and demand answers. Thank you for asking such a question this morning when you inquired about "resignations" that are expected by all of us watching in disgust.
