Why wasn't the national busline commandered for use?
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 05:25 PM by aion
Mike Malloy played a montage on Friday's show in which the mayor of New Orleans mentioned commandering the national bus service (ie. Greyhound). Can someone come up with a good reason why this was not done on day 1 or day 2 of the disaster? Or was Condi too busy watching her play to care?

If you would like to hear the montage from Mike's show, download Friday's show from http://www.whiterosesociety.org/Malloy.html and skip ahead to the 40 minute mark.

2. That is what the Mayor insisted upon when offered schoolbuses to
evacuate survivors. Apparently FEMA was busy contracting out stuff - and you know..profit motive would require school-buses.

3. A bigger question is why weren't buses used to
evacuate people before Katrina hit? Why wasn't there a plan in effect to do this?

Once the magnitude of the situation was understood, Bush or Condi should have been on the phone with Greyhound immediately. Instead, Condi had a play to attend to, and Bush is "satisfied with the results in New Orleans."
