Drudge signals Rove's Scapegoat: "BUSH'S DISASTER APPOINTEE..."
No surprise - it's the obvious choice: FEMA Brown.

Drudge links to a Boston Herald article:

"Brown pushed from last job: Horse group: FEMA chief had to be `asked to resign'"

1. For Bush to fire anyone at this point would be impossible
He's already signalled to his base that FEMA bears no responsibility, and he already announced that "Brownie" was doing a "heckuva job." How could he now fire Michael Brown?

Nobody will be fired, because Bush does not accept any accountability for anything, ever. Imperial prerogative, you know?

2. Should be fired - but that's not how it's going to go down
1 - Bush appointed the idiot
2 - The WH is pathologically hooked on NEVER admitting ANY error - EVER, ZERO, NONE, CAN'T HAPPEN.

So, instead, he'll resign. get a "Medal of Freedom" if he falls on the sword.

Aside - I really feel sorry about people who actually Earned the Medal of Freedom. It has been badly tarnished.

4. Well then why was horse boy appointed head of FEMA? Was he not
properly screened? I don't think they'll fire anyone after thinking about this a bit. First I thought so, but if they do - Bush is ultimately responsible and we can't have that now can we?

11. Here's the deal
Bush will not admit a mistake an firing horse boy would be an admission of poor planning. Horse boy probably has had his cell phone and laptop taken away and has been given an office in Fairbanks, Alaska. He will resign to spend more time with his family after the furor has died down.

12. You're exactly right
Reagan taught the Republicans that the limits of cynicism are near boundless; that it doesn't matter who occupies the office of the President - a President is only an actor who performs in order to gathers votes. However, Reagan (whatever his deficits) knew he was only playing a part. Bush, being a fool rather than being senile, really believes he's a President. And he belives that he deserves to be a President. It would be astounding to see him admit to having made a mistake (such as making a foolish appointment to an critical job). One is almost tempted to call this his tragic flaw. Except for the fact that one would feel sympathy for someone with a tragic flaw.

15. The people at NorthCom was awaiting prez. auth. - it's all Bush fault
Look at this thread, with video/audio:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4635104&mesg_id=4637492

It's the final confirmation of a 67-vote greatest thread:

On BBC: Northern Command was in position, waiting for Presidential orders.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4605183

Bush did nothing, and so did his FEMA chief.

Criminal negligence.
