No Way can we accept Roberts as Chief Justice!
I knew Bush was going to do this.

That fascist Roberts is his perfect candidate to destroy all obsticals to despotic rule by corporate America.

What Rhenquist started, Roberts will finish. Democracy will exist in name only. The environment will be ravaged as never before. Workers will lose rights back to 19th century standards.

In short, anything corporations want, they will get. And they want it all.

1. the only way to stop it is by filibuster
and we would have to do it for one year until the 2006 election

2. He's only been a judge for two years...
"Brownie" only worked with emergency management for two years before being put in charge of FEMA. We all saw how that worked.

Granted the comparison isn't totally accurate, since Roberts has been in the law profession at least.

4. The other choice is Scalia.......
I don't think there IS a lesser of two evils. We only have KNOWN evil and UNKNOWN evil. Either way, justice in America is about to take another sharp right turn.

5. What are the duties of Chief Justice?
Does it matter who the CJ is? It's not like they get more than one vote right?

Please educate me here.

7. I know he gets to pick who writes the opinion. That's all I know and
it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. But I guess it is. I beats paper scissors rock, I guess. Each can write their own opinion, too. Yup, opinionated bastards they are.

8. More than another vote for the corporatist agenda
An amiable bastard like Roberts would exert considerable influence over other justices.
