While he's screwed up more than a few times, here are the 3 instances where George W. Bush's incompetence and dereliction of duty have directly led to a significant loss of American life:
1) 9-11. While vacationing on his Crawford Texas ranch, at a time when he was in the process of racking up a 42% vacation rate going into Labor Day of 2001, George W. Bush was presented with clear cut evidence that terrorist attacks on American soil using aircraft were likely to occur in the not too distant future. Bush chooses to do nothing, and 3,000 innocent Americans later died. His response? "How was I to know?"
2) The War in Iraq: Ignoring all evidence that Saddam Hussein did not possess "Weapons of Mass Destruction," and proclaiming that the Iraqi people would welcome our troops with the kind of welcome reserved for liberators, George W. Bush pushes every button available to him in a headlong rush to what turned out to be an unnecessary and bloody war. 1,800 American service people meet their death while 10s of thousands suffer casualties. His response? Faulty intelligence.
3) Hurricane Katrina: Rather than heed pleas for help from the Governor of Louisiana, the Mayor of New Orleans, or the citizens of that horribly afflicted city, George W. Bush opts to complete a series of visits to California and his vacation home in Crawford, all before eventually returning to Washington DC for meetings. Aid that would have saved the lives of thousands was held back as the president holds "a series of meetings." His later response? "How was I supposed to know the levees would break?"
There you have it. George W. Bush, 3 time (life) loser.
