DNC 2008: New Orleans
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 11:30 AM by EarlG
Suggested by a friend of mine: This week the Democrats should announce that they're holding the 2008 Democratic National Convention in New Orleans. What say you?

2. great ... except that the NRO already suggested RNC there ...

I actually think it would be great if we DID that. But think that it wouldn't look "original" now, given the NRO's suggestion that's been out there for days.

4. I don't think it's a good idea. It's too much like the Republicans

holding their convention in New York last year.

It seems a little too much like exploitation of tragedy to me.

If it were done, there would have to be some very clear messages of recovery and not exploitation for it to be acceptable.

5. I say that's a bad idea
Exploitation of a tragedy is just wrong.

Besides, I want that convention held in the reddest city of the reddest state we can find. My suggestions would be Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City or Omaha.

6. Too much like the Republicans in NYC last year.
However, I DO think we should hold it in a red state.

How 'bout Atlanta or Memphis?

8. Detroit 2008
We need the money. The roads will be fixed prior to the 2006 Superbowl, or so we are told. Blue city in a swing state (although it's been a blue state since 1992).

14. Absolutely. the American Library Association, as of today, is still
committed to holding their 2006 convention there in June.

I'm watching this carefully; if any group will hold firm to this, the ALA will. I so hope they do.
