17. and its small and stupid if not confirmed
but that's not going to stop folks from screaming the sky is falling. What has been reported is that (a) FEMA turned down media requests to come along on some of the recovery boats...frankly, a decision that doesn't bother me since the folks dealing with the recovery of the bodies have enough to deal with without having to have reporters/photographers taking up space on the boats and (b) a request by FEMA that the media not publish photos of bodies, which I think is an inappropriate request coming from a government agency and one which they can't enforce. If a photographer sees a body being pulled from a building or floating on the water and takes a picture, there isn't much of anything FEMA can or will do I suspect.
That being said, I don't expect to see lots of photos of bodies in the MSM.

But in the meantime, folks are hysterically demanding that we call congress to complaing about the media being "banned" from NO, which will only make those doing the complaining look foolish.

5. How CAN he do that? Homeland Security was designed for TERRORIST

attacks, and the express fear of progressives at the time it passed was the erosion of constitutional and civil rights would not stop with terrorism, but would slowly spread into other areas as well.

There has been NO terrorist attack. What excuse could they possibly use for interferring with the press? The press has ALWAYS been present at disasters, at much risk to their own lives. What excuse could possibly be used for not allowing the press to be in NO now?????

This is VERY scary stuff, folks.

7. Believe me, news will get out. It will make it worse for the BA...
People will wonder what they have to hide.

Their imaginations will run wild.

8. What do they have to hide??? ...my first thought exactly!
Or maybe the constitutional issues and hiding something were together...

at any rate, they did manage to get the Patriot Act and other travesties by the American people...will people see the risk this poses? Will we compromise on "embeds" now? (Kicking myself for my earlier comments about the lack of embeds in NO).

Has the whole nation forgotten WHO WE ARE?

10. Without VIDEO.. no proof
It's the video coverage..not the verbal reports and stuff we are sharing with each other that is impacting the nation. It's the VIDEO reports.

16. That's why they're doing this...a picture is worth a 1000 words
...and the pictures we've seen threaten to drown out (poor choice of phrases there, sorry), the sound bites that they have been churning out.

Finger-pointing...
Blame Game...
Now is not the time...
...play politics...

None of that can overcome what we saw for ourselves. Sooo, the only thing they can do is throw out the constitution. Doncha just love these guys? (sarcasm)

Let's all be a little more cautious about this until we can get some firm confirmation ... preferably double-sourced.

11. Well well,are the die-hards STILL claiming these guys aren't Nazi's?
Now they're barring the media from covering a story that will shed light on how badly they fucked up this disaster. Freedom of the press is GUARANTEED by our Constitution!!

THIS IS BULLSHIT............

18. Of course they don't.
They don't want pictures of the dead, they don't want accountability for their crimes. What will it take for America to wake up and see that the biggest dictator in this world is *?

20. Here
"Let's not make a common decency issue into a censorship issue," Tapscott said. "Nobody wants to wake up in the morning and see their dead uncle on the front page. That's just common decency."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050907/ts_nm/censorship_dc

No, they don't. But if they do, they'll want ACCOUNTABILITY. Better to hide the bodies in mass graves unidentified. /off sarcasm
