a letter to our fearless leaders....
I am no writer..but I would like this to be effective....any comments?

Dear Congressional Leaders

I have a few questions that I would like answered please.

Why is it every time we are faced with a national challenge or crisis, we discover there needs to be an inquiry as to why we failed?

Answer: Because we failed!...seems like lately we always fail.

Let me explain:

We had a complete collapse of intelligence pre 9/11. Incompetence and failure. We discover after a congressional inquiry and a “bipartisan” inquiry (costing the taxpayer millions) there were over 55 official warnings and the PDB of 8/6/01 with the title Bin Laden determined to strike in the US. The President stays on vacation.

Then we had the justification to go to war with Iraq. Complete intelligence failure. We had a commission or investigation, which again cost the taxpayers millions, (and which promised not to give it’s results prior to the election) only to discover that not only were there no WMDs but also no lurking mushroom cloud. Now we recently discover the Downing Street Memo gives evidence to the previously so-called “conspiracy theory” that facts were being fixed around the policy. Even our own commission didn’t discover or expose this.

Then we have the lack of game plan or exit strategy of the war in Iraq. A mess, and a debacle costing tax payers billions of dollars because of the lack of foresight. We are still in this mess, we do not know correct body counts (as we are not allowed to view coffins coming home) and we do not count Iraqis because the very people we are trying to shove democracy down their throats are not worth counting. We haven’t had a big commission on this yet ( I am sure we will have one); however we have had investigations into Abu Ghraib, Halliburton no bid contracts and overcharging, a little investigation as to why our soldiers do not have the proper equipment, and unethical practices in recruiting new soldiers. Our National Guard is being used to fight wars instead of staying here to help us in a national crisis. (The very reason WHY we have National Guards)

Ah yes, the National Guard….Which leads me to Katrina. Our fellow brothers and sisters died. Let me say that again for that is well worth repeating…..our brothers and sisters died. Others died because our government (once again) bungled it. Complete failure and incompetence. Once again the President was on vacation. Condi Rice was shoe shopping. The Vice President was house hunting. Not too sure where Homeland Security or FEMA was, but apparently that’s why we need another investigation.
ARE YOU STARTING TO SEE A PATTERN HERE?

Allow me to assist……
Crisis, Failure, Investigation, No Accountability, Nothing learned.

We have an administration who pays no attention to intelligence reports, pays no attention to Generals and advisors who have the kind of experience you want to depend on to make good decisions before going to war and that pays no attention to weather reports that predict a catastrophic event.

I for one am tired of investigations that accomplish nothing. No one is ever held accountable. EVER! The investigations cost the taxpayers millions of dollars and this administration never learns anything from them anyway. They just go off into la la land from where they came from and continue on SCREWING THE AMERICAN CITIZENS NON STOP!!!!!

Are you starting to get the picture? Can you feel my anger and outrage? I don’t think you can….I don’t even think you can understand the tears and anger, the yelling at the television set, the embarrassment, the shame, the heartbreak of seeing these people die, starve, dehydrate, walk and live in filth urine and defecation.

We are tired of your political crap. We are tired of you worrying about votes. We want someone to lead the American people to get this administration either in line or out the door. Here is our bottom line …WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

As my deceased mother used to say (God rest her soul)
PISS OR GET OFF THE POT!

Here are questions we want answered. And we would like these questions asked over and over and over again. On TV, on the hill, and wherever you can be vocal and ask them LOUDLY

Why did FEMA stop supplies from coming in to include water, food and oil?
Why did FEMA disrupt communications during a national emergency?
Why did FEMA take our fellow citizens to internment camps where the media is not allowed in and they are not allowed out?
Why is FEMA not allowing reporters in to New Orleans to report on the conditions, the body count etc?

We Want ANSWERS…. THIS IS NOT GOING AWAY!

Failures Body Count

9/11 3000 people killed
Afghanistan 230 American Soldiers killed
Iraq War Over 1800 American soldiers killed
Over 14,000 wounded
Est. 24,000 to 27,000 Iraqis killed
Katrina EST. 10,000 or more

I include Afghanistan because if we had paid attention to warnings pre-9/11, there would have been no war in Afghanistan.

This is approximately15000 Americans dead from this administration’s failures.
I don’t think America can handle this anymore. I don’t think Americans want to die for this administration’s mistakes anymore.

I think Senator Pelosi has got it right: Dangerous!

AMERICA NEEDS YOU NOW.
IF YOU FIGHT FOR US, WE WILL FOLLOW

Thank you

2. If you don't mind...
this is one sentence I'd recommend editing...

<<<we are trying to shove democracy down their throats>>>

"whose throats down which we are trying to shove our alleged democracy"

or

"down whose throats we are trying to shove our alleged democracy"

But other than that it looks great.

4. Thanks...
I thought the first one a little clumsy, myself, but I could hear my editor in the back of my head.

I'd use the second one, personally.
