NPR - Morning Edition: A Look at State Secrets Privilege

Morning Edition, September 9, 2005 � The Bush administration is increasingly using the state secrets privilege. It is a series of precedents that allow the government to dismiss court cases on the grounds that evidence introduced in the trial could jeopardize national security.

I caught a bit of this on the way in to work this morning. The State Secrets Privilege came under fire some years ago in the case of a plane crash involving pilot error, I believe, and an attempted cover-up afterward. There was mention that it's only been invoked a few times in like the past 30-some years before this administration. It's been used over 20 times in the 4 1/2 years since, including silencing Sibel Edmonds.

Pretty good show this morning.

Just wtf is it going to take to wake America up?

They will think it's ok for Junior to use any means to protect them.
