WAIT A SECOND!!!!!!!!
As the spin machine turns, I now here Republicans blaming DEMOCRATS for confirming Brown.

I say WAIT A SECOND!!!

It is the PRESIDENT's job to MAKE POLITICAL APPOINTEES!! If he cannot be trusted enough to appoint people who have at a MINIMUM the education and experience to make them at LEAST QUALIFIED for the job, he must go. He cannot be trusted. He cannot hold his position.

Also, every damned time the Democrats balk at a political appointee of Bush, the Right-Wingers call them OBSTRUCTIONISTS (see Janice Rogers Brown) VENDICTIVE AND PUNITIVE.

Bush is a failure who cannot even nominate qualified people, and the media has crippled the opposition from the left. It is NOT our fault!!!

1. The Democrats need to take this and run with it
Lots of nominations coming up. The Dem's need to say that they can no longer take information given by the nominee as factual or credible and that it's their job to investigate all aspects of the nominees credentials. They need to state that they can no longer assume that individuals put up for nomination by the President are qualified for the position and it is their responsibility to our country to make sure an appointee is up for the job.

2. Exactly.
They took Bush's word for WMD, too. Now, the untruthfulness of the White House has forced Congress into a more careful scrutiny of all White House statements, nominees, and resumes.

3. Not only do they need to bring this up on current nominees...
they need to make examples of the Browns, and the Boltons, and review the qualifications of other apointees in crucial positions (starting with FEMA and Homeland Security). Democrats need to make an example of how "giving the President the apointees he wants" and "a simple up or down vote" are not necesarily the best option. Democrats inthe House and Senate also need to make this the example of WHY we need to get all of the information on these nominees, and why reports and should not be withheld from the Whitehouse. I honestly think that I've had better background checks done on me upon hire at a non-profit, than the Head of FEMA or the UN Ambassador!! This is pathetic! If we use this as an example, the Republicans can't poo-poo our requests because the Media will (now) back us. Most of the Main stream media (sans Faux) has been wanting Brown's head on a platter for the past 2 weeks and railing on his incompetence has been their favorite talking point. Democrats need to use this to our advantage now, before another fairhaired American Co-ed turns up missing in Aruba.
