" David Brooks blames government for the failures in responding to Hurricane Katrina. He questions whether "big government" can be the solution.

By that logic, if I (unwittingly) hired incompetent mechanics to service my car, and then my car didn't work, it would be best for me to get rid of my car.

I would rather hire better mechanics. "

Some people are not so easily fooled.
