It's utter stupidity to let small "white" states like Iowa and NH decide
the next President.

I encourage every candidate to stay in the race.

2. True...True...
Is there anything in our campaign system, in fact in our country,
that isn't broken?

14. What's broken? Fer starters:
Our campaign finance system, our primary/caucus system, our election system, public education, health care, employment, funding for higher education, the media, the courts, the congress, the white house,
env policy, international relations, Iraq, Afganistan...

5. reading your post it just occurred 2 me
the adage of 'if it ain't broke....' doesn't seem to apply to the selection process in this country. From 'finance reform' all the way down and through this process and beyond, i.e., electoral college, this clearly is broke and is in dire need of some fixin'.

Along with civil rights, affirmative action,...geez.

7. agree 100%
Iowa and NH have much more clout than they should have. The media gets to declare the winners of these states "frontrunners" only because they are first.

9. Whoa, hold it. Kerry's President?
"It's utter stupidity to let small white states like Iowa and New Hampshire decide the next President."

Kerry was elected?

I mean, I knew he won Iowa and New Hampshire. I just had no idea Bush was moving out of the White House already.

I feel that he can sell the issues that he learned in the military:
1. pay equity in between men and women
2. equal opportunity
3. community building

on edit: It wouldn't hurt if he was accompanied by his daughter-in-law and his grandchild:)

16. the lack of minorities in both Iowa and NH is disturbing
especially when the Democratic party relies on the minority vote so heavily.

19. I'll give you one reason
If California voted first, whoever had the most money would win. That person would become the nominee. Period. End of story.

New Hampshire does require individual, one-on-one attention. It's one place where old style politicking is required. Is it the most diverse state in the nation? No. But the people of NH do listen.

As a disclaimer, I am from NH, but one year removed from voting in the primary.

Those seats are elected, not appointed. It was a Republican Executive Council.
