Privatization in the wake of Katrina 9/14/05

It probably shouldn't surprise me that in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we are beginning to see the Federal Government bring in private contractors, but it does. Why it surpises me is simple: When I cease to be surprised by the cronyism and shenanigans of this administration, there will be a tacit acceptance of their behavior.

So, I remain incredulous. Let's look at two examples:

FEMA, La. outsource Katrina body count to firm implicated in body-dumping scandals

Overkill: Feared Blackwater Mercenaries Deploy in New Orleans

One might ask, if there are private companies that are capable of the jobs that government agencies or volunteers might do, shouldn't we hire them to do these jobs?

hey where there's a disaster there's money to be made...

when you look at his appointments of his cronies to positions they are not qualified to do -- is it any wonder that federal contracts are being handed out to his other buddies like candy?

Next up - Halliburton takes over FEMA and HOMELAND INSECURITY
