Crooks & Liars Video Clip: Tucker Carlson vs Bill Maher on Katrina

Tucker Carlson vs Bill Maher

The two sparred over Katrina. Guess who one?

Video-WMP

Video-QT

Maher calls Michael Brown the "Fredo Corleone" of government and brings us back to Bush's seven minutes of inaction. The two got into it over Bill Clinton and Maher wonders if Bill would have appointed a crony like Fema Brown in the first place. Carlson said he wanted to throw up watching Clinton on TV. Maher said that seeing dead bodies wanted to make him throw up.

Maher: That would not have happened under Bill Clinton...

6. Tucker is such the administration bitch..
No matter what, doesn't blame Bush. It was all the local and state officials.

Tucker, the pres-o-dent was AWOL, AGAIN, for 4 days. And he appointed Arabian horse's ass inspector Brownie to be the FEMA head. Isn't that enough to impeach the President on?

7. I think Tucker's questioning his own beliefs.
He simply doesn't have the fire anymore. When he shouts talking points, he seems to be hesitant, and he was actually LISTENING to Maher.

I think someone needs to lay his or her hand on his shoulder and assure him that it's okay to get off the GOP script. If Bush is bugging him this much (it's in his eyes) then someone needs to give him an open door to get out of the mindless conservative talking point business and start simply calling Bush what he is - a phony and a criminal.

9. I got a similar impression
Little Tucker's passion is gone. He still clings to the right-wing talking points, but he seems to believe them less than on Crossfire.

8. I like the way Tucker runs to his talking points
Maher says one or two things, and Carlson immediately goes to the most extreme position "Should the government rebuild everything everywhere every time?" Maher said, "Uh, that's not what I said."

Maher also makes the very good point that authorizing the president to go to war as a last resort isn't the same thing as giving Bush carte blanche to go in with all guns blazing.

Carlson keeps making the same stupid points over and over, "paraphrasing" Clinton so that he grafts whatever inane, unsupported talking point he wants to make (Clinton is self-righteous and is saying "lookit me!") onto Clinton. What Tucker overlooks, of course, is that the only reason Bill Clinton is on the case at all is because Lil George isn't ready to wear big boy pants yet, and had to call in a competent president to do his job.

Up yours, Tucker.

11. Damn, Brutal
I don't think it's a smart move for Tucker to have him on his show. He makes too much sense. Makes him look like an idiot.
