NEW MEME: "Why should I be concerned about state & local officials in...
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 02:43 PM by ClassWarrior
...frickin' Louisiana??! After all, I didn't vote for them, and they aren't accountable to me. What concerns me is whether or not Bush** - who IS supposed to be accountable to me, and who indeed promised during the campaign to keep us safe - is going to ignore MY governor and mayor if there's a disaster or terrorist attack in MY city!!"

Pass it on...

1. Brilliant!
My point has always been that regardless of how badly the locals fubar'd, the Feds needed to step in and pick up any dropped balls. Once it was declared a disaster area, the Feds are in charge, period.

2. "So I have to count on Mayor Bubba to protect me from terror???"
Edited on Wed Sep-21-05 02:37 PM by Dr Fate
"Jeeze- everyone in town knows that Mayor Bubba is a former used car salesmen and a baby-kissing glad-hander- is this the guy that is supposed to protect us from terror? And the city council? Jeeze- I went to high school with those knuckle-heads-THAT is our Homeland Security???

I thought BUSH promised to take care of that- Oh well-I guess we better ALL stock up on bottled water & canned ravioli."

And there you have the small town, red-state version of your talking point.

ON EDIT: Nominated

5. Hey, you're behind the times:
it's soon going to be time to criticize local officials in Galveston and Houston -- or maybe Corpus Christi. Or, who knows, maybe the hurricane winds will ruffle Guv Perry's good hair.

I know I sure won't expect much out of the feds, even though they've been burnt once. Yeah, they'll want to act in a timelier fashion; but don't expect any new-found competence.

6. That's the beauty of this meme - it doesn't matter how the locals respond.
It puts the blame squarely in Bush**'s lap where it belongs.

8. Besides, sometimes it's not a matter of one governor or one mayor.
Especially when you have a Katrina type event that crosses state lines, not to mention the sheer magnitude of the storm and its aftermath.

Good one!

THIS TOO IS HOMELAND SECURITY.
