On the subject of civil disobedience
A DUer, don't remember who, suggested a few times that we hold a national strike to get the government's attention. There were lots of reasons given as to why that wouldn't work and I know, personally, that it wouldn't work for my family because my husband and I hold jobs where we'd be replaced and forgotten in a week.

But what if millions of Americans refused to file an income tax return? During Reagan's second term, my (Republican) father-in-law became so disgusted with him that he decided not to file his taxes in protest. It took about three years for the IRS to catch up to him. They audited him and garnished his retirement to pay back taxes. Lots! The IRS agent didn't care about why he didn't file, just that he didn't. So, one person may not make a big difference, but how could they ignore millions?

It's just a thought. If this idea has already been presented, sorry. I try to keep up but DU moves pretty fast!
