CNN: Clark (and Witt?) in Texas for disaster relief supervision
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 09:52 AM by Totally Committed
Just caught this over in GD. Anyone see the interview with Wes on CNN?:

Clark (and Witt?) in Texas for disaster relief supervision--CNN...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4869560

He's everywhere the president should be, doing the things the president should be doing, and saying the things the president should say.

Go, Wes!

1. Hey TC--apparently the mods moved my thread when no
interview was forthcoming--or maybe they don't consider an upcoming interview with Wes in his role as JLWA partner and disaster relief expert to qualify as LBN?

Anyway, there's been no further mention of Clark or an interview with him.

Very, very strange. Is CNN stringing us along, knowing there will be thousands of us now glued to their coverage until we get to see the General--or until they apologize and say they've had "technical difficulties" and there will be no interview after all?

I don't think I hallucinated the whole thing, but now I do have to wonder a bit...

3. I didn't hallucinate anything. Wes got Roved.
I'd stake my life on that.

We need to hammer CNN about this--but please, please somebody tell me they got this on tape or TIVO. It was Miles O'Brien in the field and Soledad O'Brien in the studio, and happened right around 8:15/8:17 MDT.

2. Maybe they are just having trouble fitting all the news in?
The have a hurricane AND a peace march as big stories today. Also, given the nature of "disaster relief", maybe Wes was needed elsewhere when it came time for the interview? -- And will be on later, maybe?

I'll see what I can find out. You, too. And, keep watching CNN for me!

4. TC, I love you dearly, but you're too good and innocent
for this nasty world.

If your hypothesis were true, don't you think they would have said SOMETHING to explain why there wouldn't be an interview with Wes after all?

Instead they're proceeding as if nothing had ever been said at all. It never happened, nothing to see, folks. Move along.

Wes got Roved. We got Roved. We need to hammer CNN for this--but first we need to have it on tape or TIVO, otherwise it's too easy for them to weasel out of it. I know what I saw and heard, but I can't prove it without tape.

5. I wouldn't worry about "proving" it.
If he's there and he's otherwise occupied, they may not be saying anything in hopes they can get him on later at some point.

Besides, when I used to watch CNN, this was something they did every so often. They would say something was coming up, and it never materialized, without explanation.

I no longer have their phone number, or I'd just call and ask WTF was up.

9. Somebody on CNN just did a brief (like 30 seconds) interview
with a General ROBERT Clark (10:00 MDT).

Mystery explained. I think "General Clark's" first name was deliberately omitted in Miles O'Brien's earlier plug, and that we were deliberately mislead to jack up CNN's early morning ratings.

So now I'm going off to the Farmer's Market I was about to head out to nearly two hours ago, to see if there's anything left.

And it's comforting, in a way, to see them acknowledge that even a hint of Wes will increase their ratings.

8. By the way....
I haven't been called "too good and innocent for this nasty world" in a long time! Thanks, I think!

6. James Lee Witt Associates has two clients in Houston.
They are The University of Texas Health Science Center and the University of Houston. In the past, both of these places were devastated by flooding from Hurricane Allison.

Wes Clark and James Lee Witt are both "hands-on" kind of guys so it is no surprise they are down there.

Clark flew to Amsterdam, right after the levee broke in New Orleans, to confer with the Dutch and gain their expertise. All the while his company was doing its work in Louisiana PRO BONO.

The trouble with Wes Clark is that he doesn't "toot his own horn" enough. He could have worked in some of this information when he was on O'Reilly.

Oh well, I guess he's still not a Politician. I wish he would change just a teensy bit on this.

7. Did they say General Wesley Clark?
I got the impression there was another active duty General Clark in the area?

TV's only on in the background.

11. No, of course they didn't specify that it was General ROBERT
Clark they were going to interview for 30 seconds.

So--I take this as a tacit admission by CNN that

a) September is ratings month, and

(b) General WESLEY Clark is a sure ratings booster, so

c) they'll deliberately mislead us, knowing that no one on the planet is going to stay glued to CNN for an hour and a half to watch an obscure general named Robert Clark get interviewed for 30-45 seconds.

Wes strikes again--sorta. :toast:

10. Awwwwwwwww......
As a wise woman said upthread for another reason, entirely...

"It never happened, nothing to see, folks. Move along." ;)

All good wishes to those in Rita's path!
