How stupid can you be, arresting Cindy Sheehan...
...while the whole world is watching?
http://www.onlinejournal.com/Commentary/092705Conover/092705conover.html

"Does having Cindy Sheehan arrested and hauled off to the pokey to be photographed and finger-printed make you feel like a man, Dubya? Is this payback for Cindy’s Camp Casey in Crawford?

Better pour yourself another drink, George. Maybe pop some more pills, too. You’re gonna need ’em.

Nothing can ignite our determination to rid our country of you and your band of criminals than seeing a mother, who opposed your illegal war before her son died in it and who wants all the killing stopped, arrested for not having a permit to sit down in front of the house-the White House-that belongs to the people along with all the other government buildings and public spaces in Washington, DC....

Yes, George, the day of reckoning is coming and you may have hastened it by allowing Cindy to be arrested. No denials, please. You are responsible for her arrest. You could have prevented it by telling the US Park Police that under no circumstances was she to be touched.

But you didn’t do that. Instead, you allowed a spectacle for the whole world to see that gave our hero, Cindy Sheehan, a simple mom from California, near-martyr status. Thank you, George. You gave us quite a gift.

Yes, indeed, the day of reckoning is coming. So every one of you yellow-bellied creeps in Washington, in both wings of the Money Party, better start shaking in your overpriced shoes, because we are aiming to throw out the rest of the trash along with George, Dick, Karl, Condi, Rummy, et al."

1. Are you saying George Bush Jr. is STUPID?

Perish the thought.

2. Knowing that she planned to be arrested
this piece is kind of anti-climatic.

Interesting to speculate what would have happened if she had NOT been arrested.

3. It's not as though Bush took her away in handcuffs personally...
The cops just did their job.

I've seen a couple posts equating the cops with Bush, and I don't get the correlation -- other than the fact that they're both government employees

4. You're absolutely right. They would have arrested anyone who sat down
there on the street.

5. Would have, and did...
The final tally was nearly 400 people arrested and all charged with demonstrating without a permit. What were the cops supposed to do, not arrest Sheehan because it would help her cause?

I mean, they're cops. You break the law right in front of their faces, and they arrest you. It's as simple as that. Jack Nicholson once said, "There's only one law: Don't embarrass a police officer."

If the president himself had said not to touch her, they'd probably have cartered her off anyway.

6. That's the whole point:
the cops play their role in the play that the protesters direct. This IS a tactic, and in the past has been an effective one. I hope it works again this time. By handcuffing Sheehan, the cops just played their roles a little more-effectively.

7. Sure. Heck, the protestors contacted the police beforehand...
and told them exactly what they intended to do. This was a surprise to no one.
