Word on the Hill Re: DeLay indictment - "it's already been dismissed"
I've got some sources on the Hill that hear the indictment's already been dismissed. They're higher level guys from the Republican side, so I don't know whether or not there's any truth to it, but that's the word I'm hearing. Don't shoot the messenger.
It just wouldn't make any sense, but it comes from a guy that previously said DeLay should be stepping down anyway. I'm just passing along the info though, for whatever it's worth.
Perhaps the judge assigned to the case already gave the order to dismiss the charges based on what he/she perceives as a lack of evidence. I don't know at all. Like I said, I'm just passing along the info.
The indictment doesn't just go away, but the case would be dismissed. One way or another, even if he was just indicted for a second, he'd be forced to give up leadership.
