Abu Ghraib images to be released - BBC
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 02:39 PM by rndmprsn
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4295324.stm

A judge in New York has ruled that pictures of Iraqi inmates abused by US troops should be released.

The judge made the order after a request by the American Civil Liberties Union for access to 87 unseen images.

District Judge Alvin Hellerstein rejected government arguments that this could fuel anti-US feelings.

Pictures of Iraqi inmates being abused at Abu Ghraib jail in Baghdad last year have caused an outcry around the world. Several US soldiers have been jailed.

The ruling represents a huge potential embarrassment for the US administration, says the BBC's Jeremy Cooke in New York.

3. Finally!
As the old saying goes: the truth shall set you free. This needs to be resolved and the people who are responsible should pay whether it's George Bush or Donald Rumsfeld. Didn't an old aide of Clinton's say this whole ordeal goes to the top? I think I remember him saying that.

5. Why is this a good thing?

Release the COFFIN photos of our soldiers, show photos of dead, wounded killed in the Iraq carnage that the rest of the world sees in their media... this will make Americans get off their asses and DEMAND to end this war.

however, do not put our SOLDIERS in MORE danger than thy already are by stirring the fury of Iraqis... and do not give Bin Laden this ENORMOUS recruiting tool for even MORE violence against our soldiers and the West.

I HATE THIS ADMINISTRATION, but the price of this release of photos is NOT WORTH IT- believe me, it will result in more death, more acts of violence in the world and agains our soldiers.

i know some of you will disagree, but imagine if you had a brother or sister in Iraq right now, how would you feel?

Not worth it. Let them come out AFTER Americans get the hell out.
