Congratulations Dean Haters!
Just when I think you couldn't possibly sink any lower you pull "gotchas" out of his dead brother's grave. You make me :puke:

As for the nicknames rule, since I'm not referring to any candidate's supporters I don't think I'm violating it. If this is inflammatory then fine, lock it.

1. How dare Dean use his dead brother for political advantage!
I haven't heard of a bigger outrage since Wellstone's Memorial!

5. Wellstone Memorial?
By that I'm sure you mean the way the rightwing media totally misrepresented what happened there. What a sham. Neocon talking heads rising up in righteous indignation about an event they never saw -- and making comments that were complete fabrications.

I agree. It's sickening.

8. That's bullshit.
"swimming in the sewer" If this place is so bad leave. I love DU. One of the first things I learned here was not to take anything too seriously. But this is no sewer. I am insulted by that because of how much I like the place.

15. Very tactful of you to put in a plug for your candidate
In a thread where I'm decrying the tastelessness of despicable campaign tactics.

7. Does your candidate support this?
If so I'll tell you right now he'll never, ever, ever get my vote. Why? Because someone who would try to use someone's dead brother as a wedge issue in a campaign has no more moral fiber than the disgusting fleshbag currently in the Oval Office.

12. Dean wrote the words
He did it. He didn't have to try to fudge his missing brother under unknown circumstances as military service. I posted where he said he didn't believe his brother was working for the government. He shouldn't have put that information under military service. Quit blaming everybody else for Dean's fuckups.

6. Its not inflammatory, just inaccurate
I assume you are referring to Governor Dean's published reply to a survey in which he seems to infer his dead brother was a POW/MIA.

Such an inference is wrong, unless the man was in fact a soldier.

While he may have been a prisoner of war, he could only be missing in action if he was in the military. This may be simply an innocent misunderstanding on Dean's part that could easily be cleared up but it is not something that should be ignored or stone-walled or written off as anti-Dean propaganda.

The POW/MIA issue is a serious one in this nation, and many people still harbor deep bitterness over the way this question has been treated in the past. Letting the impression stand that Dean's brother was POW/MIA when he was not in the US military is guaranteed to set these secondary victims off, and justifiably so.

You don't want a flurry of black flags haunting Dean at rallies all across America, but that's what he's inviting unless he clears this one up.

13. All of you...
... give it a goddamned rest.

Your political enemy is George W. Bush, and yet, you're trying to destroy each other.

Your insanity will ensure Bush's election (for the first time).

Stop fighting each other and start telling your candidates, in no uncertain terms, to direct their ire toward Bush, not each other.

Otherwise, all Democratic possibilities fail.

Dig it?

You'd better dig it, and so should your candidates.

Yes, only one Democratic candidate will prevail after the convention is finished. But, if you continue to fight one another instead of Bush, Bush will win and you and all your hopes will lose.

Determine to speak forthrightly and well in favor of your favored candidate, but speak no ill of any other. Vow to vote your conscience in the primary, and vote against Bush in the election.

There is no other way. Tear each other apart and you ensure the continued success of Bush and Co.

Cheers.
