David Schuster just said that in a report on Tweety's show.

6. Yup, that's what he just said ... "As soon as next week"
Now, parse that out and it could be as late when Hell freezes over, too.

But I think it'll be sooner rather that later.

40. If Fitzgerald is looking at, as he should, the violations
of the espionage act as well as the Identity protection law, then it's about every damned reporter, politician, etc. They all broke the law by sharing classified info with people not authorized to see it.

There's some "wheelin' and dealin'" going on.

Or, it could be her testimony was one pice of the puzzle for **one part of the whole case**.

I'm still holding out hope for multiple big-crime indictments.

9. I really respect Fitz for being so tight lipped...
I'm glad that we don't know what is going on with this investigation.

Fitzgerald understands the Rove attack and spin machine. He knows that any information about his investigation--would lead to rabid attacks and issues being clouded.

I think it's a VERY positive sign that there is NO information out there. I'm guessing that this the lack of information is due to the fact that this is going to be huge...a big bomb dropped.

If Fitz is going to let the cat out of the bag next week--that obviously means that Miller's testimony was pivotal in a major way; as if her words were one of the nails in the coffin. Or possibly, other witnesses corroborated what Miller said--and Miller's account gave Fitz the additional leverage he needed.

I guess it's all speculation at this point.

BushCo is in trouble--it's just a matter of to what degree the trouble is and who is involved.

Should be interesting.

47. You gotta be kidding me!
That little weasel is on ANOTHER vacation????

He was out the ENTIRE month of August. We're not even done with September, and the wussy is taking more time off--away from the White House.

What a joke.

I do think that a weekend away is telling, indeed.

They know they're in for the ride of their lives.

Thanks for the info! I feel even better now about what Fitz will say!

I do think BushCo is very anxious. I also think that they have absolutely NO clue as to what their fate is. They know Libby is toast. They're all holed up--right now--at Camp David--quaking in their boots. Rove is probably shoveling banana moon pies down his gullet and Junior is probably drinking Chivas through a straw.

HA!!!

But it was the right way to handle something of this magnitude. My fingers are cramping from crossing them. It stuns me to see how much damage has been done to this country in a little over four years. Gloating is unbecoming but I'll be dancing in the street if a bunch of biggies get smacked.

17. The virtually complete silence sez a few things to me .....
First, as you, I respect him for that, if nothing else.

It also seems that he's got damned few confidantes working on this. I can imagine a small, tight-knit staff of honest lawyers working in a windowless room. Maybe literally, maybe not, but that's the picture I get.

Also, he must have read the riot act to the grand jurors. Not one of them seems to have leaked, either. Now, it is also possible (putting on my mystery writer hat here .....) that one of the jurors has been flipped by those being investigated and feeding them info, but I find that kinda far fetcjed. By all accounts the jurors are typical DC citizens and typically retirees or federal workers with little else tugging at their time. If a typical DC jury, that does not bode well for those being investigated.

I also think if Fitzgerald were NOT working on something important he would have been done with this ages ago, put the facts out there, and go out for a beer. The fact that it has been going on so long, and has been so incredibly airtight, that it will be very big.

lastly, and maybe most important of all, this whole thing started because the CIA wanted it to happen. And they pushed for it before Porter Goss' 'Night of the Long Knives'. We know now that the good guys over at Langley are gone and we also know (or at least we're seeing strong evidence) that there's no love lost bewteen the junta and George Tenent.

I think, all tolled, this will be very huge (or is the hugh?).

19. Fitzgerald is NOT a republican. That was shown long ago
He has steadfastly refused to be amember of any party (although he did register as an Independent in one state where he lived where that was possible.

His ties to Republicans is that he was appointed by a republican in Ilinois to investigate.

Again, he's not a republican.

51. right, he is a prosecutor, a pro, in search of serious crime
And he will do what the law requires.

I dunno why some here and at other sites fail to realize just what that means. Fitz has been a godsend in the midwest, cleaning many dozens of corrupt officials, in both parties. (even a GOP governor) and I am convinced he is doing the same thing here.

this is the best news yet, it is as though the whole crooked deck of cards just got the first blast from an open window.

25. That's not what makes me feel hesitant. I trust Fitzgerald. At least I
THINK I do.

I don't know why, but I'm holding the glee VERY tightly, trying to keep it thoroughly suppressed. I do NOT want to get my hopes up. It could also be that we're hoping against hope - for nothing, or for some low-level stooge who's being set up to be the scapegoat here. Perhaps it's because some of the polls showed asshole back up a little. I don't feel much like celebrating yet, and I do NOT want to get my heart broken, since I've been dreaming of leg irons and orange jumpsuits and do not welcome a rude awakening. I hope - but I'm not going to count my chickens just yet. We've been disappointed before.

Needless to say, though, I'm going to be a nervous wreck til this breaks.

FINALLY, for the sake of all that is holy, the majority of the U.S. can bring themselves around to our assessment of the criminal activities of these neo cons and I'm not talking pot busts.
Reminds me of when NIXON quietly dissappeared for the rest of his political life. Or Newt had to step down. Or when Limbaugh lost his moral hi ground to drug possession. Or when I could leagally drink.

24. I'm afraid that, once again, the REAL criminals will go free, and their
underlings will be sacrificed...just like Abu Gharib, just like everything else they do.

And then, the "liberal" news media, who only seem to jump to the rescue of republicans, will start smearing everyone in the path of their self-righteous rage, including Fitz, and all of the Dems, and other "terrorists".

And then, georgie porgie will pardon them, since it was, after all, "political partisanship", as proven by the "liberal" media.

I do not believe Fitzgerald would have imprisoned someone unless he believed that indictments were going to follow. A lot of the Miller story makes no sense but I think that is because we don't know what Fitzgerald knows. I do not believe he would send someone to prison and have a grand jury return no true bill. People are going to be indicted and they already have their target letters.

A letter required by the Justice department to be sent to anyone who is likely to be indicted by a grand jury. A warning to get a lawyer and not to testify before the grand jury.

34. Note to Rove
fans out there. The appellate court decision upholding Miller's imprisonment made reference to an unexpected turn in the grand jury inquiry (presumably occurring last summer) and to a conspiracy against Wilson. These words are not used lightly in regard to federal criminal indictments. But I don't know where they are going.

41. just by way of second thought,
the appellate litigation came down this spring. but it just doesn't make sense that Fitzgerald would jail someone and not expect to return an indictment. There are a lot of rules about this, generally founded on principals of fairness, whatever people might think. You don't jail people on a whim to get informatuion. This is serious. I just can't conceive that nothing will come out of the grand jury.
